What's up, I'm purchasing some 16" xxr2's for my 240. I'm not too savvy on rims.. anyways I know the 240 hub center is around 66.1mm...the rims won't come with hub centric rings which brings me here. Do I really need them? I hear that they don't really do much .If so what size must the rings be and where to buy them? Any help would be appreciated. Here are the specs on the rims

16x8

Bolt Pattern: 4X100 and 4X114.3 (4.5")

Offset: +0 mm

You don't need them.

Haha yeah some say not to use and some say use. Chris have you mounted aftermarket rims without them? They're cheap I may as well purchase them now, so definitely get the 73.1/66.1? Thanks Krash.

I think Chris has used wheels without them and drifted like that without any real issues...

The 240s hubs are designed for the wheel to rest on the hubcentric ring and the lugs to hold them on to the hubcentric ring. So the hubcentric ring is supposed to take most of the stress.

That being said, I've also run wheels without them and daily driven for a while. I didn't have any REAL problems. I found that I didn't mount the wheels perfectly centered a few times and that made some funky stuff happen.

But at 4 bucks each, get them and never worry about it. I have them on my wheels now.

You're getting the 002s? The centerbore on the 002 is 73.1 and the 240s hub bore is 66.1. So you'll need the 66.1 to 73.1 hubcentric ring adapter.

I've never used them on any wheel I've owned, then again a few of my friends swear by them and think I'm crazy. At one point I got wheels that had a center bore too small so I used slip on spacers to account for the hub bore difference. Daily drove like that for two years as well as went to multiple track days, never had any issues.

I guess it's good for peace of mind, but it's not like you can't drive unless you have them.

I run them on all my wheels. I had a wheel come off one time while driving because the shop that put my wheels back on didnt take the time to make sure it was centered good and it shook the lugs off within 2 miles.

I wouldn't say you really need to run them but it makes putting the wheel back on the right way 10x easer and you have the peace of mind that you wont be losing a wheel going down the highway.

Well I'll definitely be ordering them on ebay. I got one more question, probably sounds noobish. Now I find out the rims aren't coming with valve stems. Are those universal or rim specific. Apparently I'm just getting the rims since the idiot didn't include lugs, stems and rings.

Tire shops install valve stems when they mount the tire. Unless you're buying brand new Works, Rays, etc the valve stem isn't expected to be included with the wheels.

Well the shop near me said they'd do everything in one shot so that just leaves me to get those hub rings only. Thanks for the info guys.

Also, those ebay rings seem to be exactly what I bought from nlmotoring.
