I was wondering how reliable the 240sx(s13) is? About how many miles can the engine withstand before needing a rebuild/swap? Are there any specific problems to watch out for? Thanks

Timing chain is the only thing I can think of as well. Other than that, you just need to consider the things that normally need fixing on older cars. The engines and transmission are pretty damn tough. Second gear syncros can be a bit tempermental, but nothing major.

Two of the big plusses with the 240SX are reliability and ease of repair. It's comparatively easy to work on this car.

Ah, if you look at one that's got a rear deck spoiler you might want to keep an eye out for rust in that area.

generally people say the engine will last you a solid 200k miles with only minor maintainance.

Ease of repair! Ever get an alternator out of this thing? Took 20 minutes on my old '90 ford, took an hour and a half this time.

Took me roughly 45 minutes to get my alternator out... I'm sure there are ppl here who have gotten it off in less time. If you were to go straight for the alternator and none of the other belts or anything somewhat in the way, I'm sure you could have it loose in roughly 5 minutes!
