240sx rear end

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

so what is everybody doing for rear ends? there is no way that the stock rear end could hold up for long with that kind of power. Mine doesnt have VLSD so i will need to swap mine out quick. Any suggestions?

I'm using the stock diff with a Kaaz 1.5way and stock axles for now.

The stock diff is strong enough.

Well not having to move parts is the obvious choice for ease of install. Most guys mod the clutch assembly etc. As for the the rear end, the R200 is very strong. Not to mention, they are everywhere if you do manage to shell one. For LSD I'd grab a J30 or 300ZX rear, or just weld the spider gears.

Yeah, it was in the back for NOPI coverage and then again in that little article towards the front in one of the more recent issues (with the silver S14 on the cover).

Chris- what's been up dude? You done anything else with the LS 240 since Nopi? I went ahead and picked up a 95 S14 myself and swapped in a S14 Kouki SR in it but for some reason we cant get it running.....no fuel and no spark....It had been a SR specialty shop for about a month now and no one can get it running there either......I should have just threw a LS1 in it as well and been done with it.

Kelso- I didnt mean go off subject in your thread but I am currently running a stock rearend in my LS Z32 and it is holding well to about 400hp for me. I have not thrown on a very sticky tire yet but I ran it at the track on street radials and ran a 13.2 just spinning til 3rd.

If your not getting fuel or spark then your ECU most likely isnt getting the correct constant or switch 12v. Check all the power wires. I suspect the fuel pump is not priming.

Yeah the fuel pump is not priming when I turn the key. So we manually grounded the pump and then it came on but it it still wont crank because there is no spark. We suspected that the ECU was bad so we tried it in my buddies Sr 240 and my ECU cranked his car right up. So we tried his ECU in my car and still have the problem with no fuel and no spark. WTF??? The harness was done by Yury from Heavy Throttle who has done hundreds of SR harnesses with no problems so I would'nt think it was in the wiring but if my ECU works in another car, then its def not the ECU correct?

You need to check and make sure Yuri has wired in the EXXS Relay correctly. He has a problem with this sometimes. Like I said get a Pinout of the ECU and start checking all the main and switch 12v wires. It sounds to me either the ECU isnt grounded or not getting power.

Man, hate to hear that. Hope you get everything figured out. Definitely check everything you can no matter how confident you are that it's right. Funny how it works out...trust me.

No mods to the car yet. Been stockpiling parts and figuring out what route I want to go with it. Went to the track as it was and managed a 12.6 @112 w/ a 1.9 60' but that was the only pass I ran. I'm going to maybe get some good tires under it and see if I can't run an 11.9 with the new tune before adding more power.

Good luck!
