I'm looking to buy a 240sx with a rb20det swap already done that i can further improve and build. Only thing is that I don't know very much about these motors since one of my friends turned me on to them. So I'm just wanting some general information on the engine and how I can build it up. Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

Check out the sticky threads atop the forum for a wide variety of information about building, modifying, maintaining, etc...

I'll give you some advice though... You better have a strong mechanical aptitude and some experience working on cars to want to buy an RB swapped car. They are a fantastic engine, and can be extremely strong and reliable if built correctly, but they are not for a rookie! It's hard to diagnose issues, hard to find replacement parts, and often hard to find help if you get stuck with something.

Again.. awesome motors!!!! But be sure you know what you're getting yourself into before you toss a bunch of money into an RB swapped car.

Seriously look at some of my posts.... Do your self a favor go for sr or go ls-1. Trust me on that-why you may ask.

SR1)make more power on stock bottom2)parts are PLENTIFUL3)wiring is made simple because so many have done it4)more cross over parts5)lighter....can be newer(plugs and crap)6)keep ur A/C

LS-1 1)around same price (maybe a little more with kit)2)omg fast3)omg awesome4)probly best gas milage5)V-8 hahahahhahha6)torque much7)parts are no longer a problem-only draw back is wiring would be ...a challenge

RB1)CANNOT get parts 3-4wks for anything!2)just not a good option3)who care about sound4)okok its coool to say its got a skyline motor ill admit5)rb20's are old and dieing6)old =corrosion7)wiring is a pitta for real8)i've never heard of anyone not have unsolved issues9) always sumthin wrong 10)dont do it11)information is misleading scarce 12)put in a friken 2jz instead at least13) rb guys are stingy as crap jdm to the max lol...

just tryin to point you in the right direction...try and find just a oem headgasket lol.... i know the web sites say they stock em...call them and see if its in stock for real.......

That's quite the list.

I disagree with many of your items on that list... but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

The one major point that you are missing is that he's not looking to swap a motor himself.. he said he was considering a car with an already installed and running motor. So he won't have to deal with the frustrations that you are currently having on your RB swap. All the parts are already there, he'll just have a few maintenance items down the road. He won't have to wire it.. that's done already (assuming it was done correctly).

Who cares about sound?? That was one of the best things about an RB20.. it's one of the best sounds in the world!!! Almost makes it worth doing just for that reason. Man I miss that sound!!!
