I have a 96 240sx with about 78k miles... I have the knock sensor code and the spd sensor code.. My spdometer doesnt even move at all...
I tried to check the continuity in the sub-harness of the knock sensor and as soon as I pulled on the harness... the whole thing just came out and the white wire was cut... well that explains the knock sensor code so here are my questions about the knock sensor...
1.where can I find the sub-harness wire set? 2.And could you please direct me to where I could find the knock sensor? I was looking down the 2nd and 3rd runner in the intake manifold but I couldnt see much....
3. I ordered a spd sensor (manual transmission) but it didnt come with a gear that's supposed to go on in... so where can I find the gear? BTW, I cant use my old ones because the gear has maybe about 2 teeth left on it...

I think it is easier to see it from under the car myself.
It's close to the oil filter mount, just back a bit farther. It just looks like a bolt holding a big wire to the block. It's basically just mounted in the middle of the block. If you still have trouble, have someone wiggle the wire at the front of the motor while you look from underneith. Anything moving at this point is what you'd be looking for
As far as finding another speed sensor. Junkyard my friend, junkyard. They probably wouldn't even charge you for it.. at least might never do, of course I go in there all the time for spare parts.

Nope... I think the reason why they sell the gear seperately is because since it's plsatic it likes to get all meshed up... and spd sensor is expensive to replace so they sell the gear seperately just incase you only need the gear...
Ok I will try jacking up my car and look from below... Would I have to remove the oil filter to see it? So if I look directly at the oil filter from the bottom is it above, below, right or left of the oil fitler?(oh yea. the wire wiggling wouldnt work cuz my wire was cut... )

from underneath i believe it is to the left of the oil filter.
