Hello everyone I am currently having problems with my new s14 I got.. When the car starts up the engine is REAlly loud (maybe a clicking noise) after the car warms up the car sounds like a normal car. Also has this happens at the beginning the oil light comes on and off for about 5-10 minutes when the car is still warming up. I have no idea why this is happening oil looks good etc I replaced the oil sending unit no luck there.. So I am kind of confused of what is going on with my car

I asked a couple of mechanics and they told me the loud noise is my timing chain going bad which is odd because if it was why would the noise go away after driving for a bit? Also half the guys I asked thought it was a belt instead of a chain.. hmm

I just need some general suggestions or if other people are having this same problem thanks!

Sounds like your oil pump or pressure regulator is toast. Hopefully not too much damage has been done to the bearings by having low oil pressure during warmup...if not it is be time for a rebuild or another engine.

my first suggestion is to STOP running the engine when your oil light comes on. One thing you don't want to do is ruin what ever is still good in there. You can either use it when you repair or sell it for a little cash, but if its screwed up its gonna be no good.

second. screw the timing chain... if its a timing chain issue it is a common thing and 99 times out of 100 you have nothing to worry about. but the bottom end... and your oil light needs to be trouble shot first. that is the life of the motor. I would start looking for a Factory Service Manual if you don't have one already. start with your sensors and go from there, but i would be really careful about driving on that motor unless you are absolutely positive that the oil pump is working and you have proper pressure.
