240sx overheating.. help :(

Hey, I am new here and a new proud owner of a 1995 240sx as of today, the only problem is that it is overheating. I did a search but couldn't find much info on this topic.

The car is completely stock, has 145k miles so I don't think the engine is toast (at least I hope not). it has an electric fan but is not plugged in.

Any idea of what could be the problem? Is this a common problem and how much am I going to have to shell out for this? :/

edit: also does anyone know of a good shop that knows 240's around either Burbank or San Diego, CA?
