On http://www.240sx.org, on the old group buys section under interior, there's a "brushed aluminum" interior dash kit for sale...I was wondering if anyone has bought this kit, and how it looks? One of my friends got a similar kit for his Prelude, and it was horrible, it looked really rice, and he described it as "shiny enough to be on My Little Pony." Guess the question is should I go with the stickers or just pull the dash components out myself and prime/paint/clearcoat em? Lemme know whatcha think.

my interior is completely stock, and its going to stay that way because im lazy and flashy colors dont work with me (and dont make my car faster). If done right and with taste, painted peices look good, but most of the typical home jobs i see just totally suck arse.

the prime/paint/clearcoat is not such a good idea because the paint is not pliable overtop of the plastic and will crack easily....at least in my experience

Fair enough, I'd just love to make the dash a nice silver, nothing very flashy, just an aluminum look, it goes with the interior of the car now, plus a couple things I'm putting in

here's a thing on the lancer forums about painting dash pieces. Kareem's site is down, so his attached pics on the first page aren't coming through, but he does have his method 1/3 down page 2.

Interior can be painted and look nice if the correct paint is used. Paint can be bought in the can for plastic with a flex agent. I had to use paint on one of my old camaro's because the new interior pieces cam black and my interior was grey. I used the proper paint and you could not even notice the differance and it lasted the time I had the car. I cant remeber the name if it was just interior paint or what but its out there. Maybe check classic car sites. So if done right paint looks really good.
