hi.. i am car shopping for a 95-96 240sx . but before i start i want to know the difference between a regular 240sx and a 240sx SE. coz i have noticed that the SE are a bit more expansive usually. and as far as i know.. the SE has sunroof, ABS , and LSD. what about the regular 240sx? do they have LSD too? coz thats one of the main thing i want 240 to have. so please give me some input. thanks thanks

actually you HAVE VLSDVLSD is the special type of LSD for RWD cars but its only 1 way i believe (lift the rear up and when you spin the tires the other side shoul be spinning same direction.. if you had LSD your other tire would be spinning opposite direction)

also:i dont think SE comes with sunroof .. thats only LE Luxury Editionunless the person buying straight off the factory line specified which options to make before productionbut ultimately the only way to tell if your 240 is LE or SE is shifter... manual is obviously SEAutomatics come in SE's also but all LE's come with auto (automatic is considered 'luxury' cause its like a butler in your manssion 'automatically' doing things for you

uhhh, actually SE's come with sunroof's as an option. here in America SE is the highest model....other places the LE is the highest. i wish my SE had a 5speed. it has the "butlermatic"

def get an se, I have a 96 se, sunroof, pw, pl, lsd, and abs. You also get the white face gauges, and rear speakers. My friend has a base model, and he likes my car much better, so go with the se. Oh it also comes with the front lip... Good luck

My personal opinion is to get the base, but thats a matter of what you want. I particulary like my cars with as few options as possible. The only thing that I wish I had was LSD, but with the price difference I could get one and it would still cost less.

I'm odd though, I'd rather no sunroof, power locks, ABS. I got speakers in the rear, don't know if it was like that from the factory though, cause the old owner had a CD player in it already. I didn't know about bigger sway bars initially, but I don't see how that would make that huge of a handling difference, but I have coilovers anyway, so my car handles like a beast. The front lip from the SE is nice, but I just picked up a Greddy one, and I like that better (I should be able to get pics up soon).

But if you like the options, and have the money, definitly get the SE, there is enough stuff different to make it worth it (if its worth it to you). Its all about what you want.

if you get either LE or SE with power steering... putting in a turbo is gonna be a b**** cuz power steering pump protrudes off the fan belt on the right side of the engine bay... making the intake tubing from the turbine hard to install

Hey If you are in the US get the LE it comes stock with everything even the annoying HICUS or HICAS ,it's a steering option. But the LE is the way to go with 240's in the US.I wish I knew that before I bought mine.

Get an SE, that's what i have and it looks a little different, nicer w/ the wheels, spoiler and front lip. I got mine loaded but w/ a 5spd,vlsd, abs, leather and alot of stuff, so that was good, definitely go SE.

...there IS a faq with this info; http://240sx.org/faq/articles/history.htmthe differences between SE, LE, and base are down at the bottom

A lot of stuff mentioned are options you can get in the base model as well...my car is base model but has an option package with the 6 speaker, 2 amp, cd player, and power antenna in it (power and convenience package?). The http://www.socal240sx.org site has some more info on the different trims (doesn't seem to be working at the moment).

Only thing on an SE that I would like are the 5 lug rims (really not much of a big deal, more personal preference than anything). They've also got a rear anti-sway bar, but I hear it's pretty weak and doesn't have a great effect.

dont forget:obvious reminder that US 240's were stopped in 98it would be hard to find exactly what options you want in the used car... and obviously you cant STILL order one made from the factory
