240sx non-hud speedometer repair

Does anyone know how to test a non hud speedometer for a 91 240sx? There's lots of info here about the hud verson, but I'd like to verify mind is broke before taking it somewhere or sending it off, considering I've spent $70 replacing the speed sensor to no avail. Are there some common problems I can look for or try first? Any speedo repair shops recommended? Btw, this site has helped me o much in the past, but now I finally had to post a question.

I have taken them apart. I just through out the speedo motor / needle too. Easy to do, most likely its the actual gauge motor.

Just an update and a help out a fellow request. I took the speedometer to Hamps Speedometer repair in alpharetta, and he got to work on it right away, while I waited. He got the speedometer working by taking the dial out of the cluster and resoldering some of the joint especially around the IC. However he found the odometer motor was grinding and basiclly shot. So I'm asking if anyone has a partially working cluster that the odometer motor is still good on. PM me if you do. Thanks.

You might wanna check around on your local craigslist or searchtempest.com (searches national craigslists) for partouts/etc. I scored a DOHC tach (did an sohc > dohc swap - requires new cluster for tach to work) for $20 shipped to my door with ~150k miles on it.

There are common auto repair shops that tests a non hud speedometer for a 91 240sx for free then after that they can diagnose it so you can finally install the odometer after the check up.
