I'm close....92 240sx and I have a GTI. It's not a rabbit though, it's a 97 VR6.

I'm sorry but that list is off.

The Prelude isn't there but the civic and CRX are??

WTF???

Neon is but SRT-4 isnt? WTF?

WRX but no STi or EVO??

Boxster??? Funny considering most Porsche guys HATE the boxster, and no 911??

fc should be there

no MK4 supra??

88-92 camaro??

no SVT mustang?

and honestly the usdm 240 doesn't belong on that list

i would think that the car woudl have to have been out for a few years to make the list, hence the no STi or EVO or SRT-4

price would be the reason for the no STi or EVO as well, same with the MK4 supra and SVT mustang and 911.

not to mention those are peoples opinions, not cold hard fact.

i think it depends on how you interpret the way GRM came up with this list. my feeling is that they looked at the cars that made a huge impact on the "grassroots" scene (read: affordable, obtainable). a majority of those cars are pretty price competitive and can be bought by a lot of aspiring enthusiasts.

i don't think they've overlooked such great cars such as the evo or wrx, etc. the majority of their readers i think are common people who might not have that huge budget.

kepani-who likes the magazine a lot and might get a subscription.

then the vettes, m3, rx-7, and the two porsches shouldn't be on that list

considering that the newest of those cars are 1998 and below, they certainly are attainable. the z06 is definitely a stretch as far as cost is concerned.

oh well, great list regardless. but yeah, there are many other cars deserving.

i see the list as cars that are affordable and easiest to modify.. also .. some of the cars are mentioned as cars that paved the way for the newer versions of cars being made... for example the Neon ACR (i hate neons) paved the way for the SRT-4 .. the popularity of most the cars set the standards for newer cars and technology.. thats how i see the list.. but the only car on that list that doesnt seem to make much of a difference is the new mini's.. nice lil cars .. the S model is sweet.. but what impact does that car have.. all i seen it do was spawn a remake of the Italian Job.. lol ohh also the new Z06 isnt that affordable.. IMO.. but i quess compared to a Modena it is.. or a 911.. so that makes sense.. well im rambling now

also as mentioned these are cars that had an effect on the lower motorsports, club racing and such, and a LOT of people run vettes and mustangs in those classes.

Yeah I think they missed a few too, but remember they had to narrow it down to 20. Go pick up a copy (or read it in the store) and if you read their reasoning, most of it makes sense. Honestly the only one I really don't agree with is the camaro, or at least I thought their reasoning was poor. And the FC totally should have been on that list. They do mention upgrade models for several of them (WRX STi, SVT Mustang...) as well as cars that were revamped for performance or had good performance packages (FD, M3, Z06, Neon ACR...). The 240 was on the list for being a cheap FR overshadowed by the 300zx and basically because of its current popularity in the drift scene. GRM is very SCCA oriented so think about cars you would see at an autocross. Look up the list of top points scorers and people that participated in the SoloII nationals, and the cars listed probably outnumber all the other cars in their respective classes.

underground is right. i think the list is pretty good. being an autocrosser and seeing what cars people run...it's pretty darn good. Only used to see one Supra out there. Lots of power, never did that great though. Not a lot of preludes, tons of fast civics and CRX's. and the 944, 968 and Boxster are just too damn easy to drive fast compared to a 911. and the 240 should be there. I ran my car first time this sunday. I was slow since I don't know the car that well, and the suspension had been on for like 2-3 days and wasn't sorted by any means. I was slow, but far from the slowest there, LOTS of time left in the car. and on a tight autox course torque is great. A laggy turbo motor isn't.

run by the bookstore and read the article. It's pretty well thought out and a pretty good list for the parameters they set. GRM is a great rag BTW

i know it scca oriented, that's why it confused the hell out of me when I did not see any of the 3 gens. of mr2's or sentra 2000gsr or se-r.

91-95 MR2 was in there, late model. There are also a few cars that some of the other mag contributors mentioned should have made the list but didn't, kind of their own personal in house flame But one of the guys did mention the earlier MR2. I would have thought I'd see the se-R as well, but no mention. I've always liked those boxy little sleepers. Older RX7 was mentioned but too old.

I see you also wanted to see the Corrado in there. I love that car. I really do. I owned one. Raced it. sucks at autox. unless you're really good. Decent bigger track car. I like to call it a bad *** street touring machine. It handled better than my GTI VR6 even though they were very similar and the SLC I had had less mods. I think the wheel base was a bit longer. it was also lighter (slightly) They were just a bit too expensive new, and too rare and expensive to upkeep now. That's why you don't see many. everyone used to love seeing me flog mine around the cones.
