240sx Ls1 conversion

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Ok, i think i'll go with my Auto transmission that came with the engine for now.. since i have no other option... cause the T56 is not found anywhere here... but the ****ty part is that the auto's bellhousning is 2 big to fit in the tunnel even after hammering... so what should I do... should I cut some part of the tunnel? or does that affect in anyway the cars balance? anyone did that b4...?(I meant Auto on 240sx)

You can cut the tunnel if you want. If hammering it doesn't help. Guy I know, Ivan from AMS, has a big auto in his S14, no problems. If you do cut the tunnel, you'll need to fab a new sheet metal portion for the area's removed.

thank you so much for the reply... I was really worried this might affect the rigidity of the car... what about the heater... dosn't it pass right over the Transmission so if you cut the tunnel u actually have to take all the heater out?

The heater core? Should be easy to move if its in the way.

It won't "really" effect rigididididy...lol, if you weld another sheet metal "patch over the hole you had to make. Even if it's just stitch welded.

I found a T56 in lebanon... for 2500$ loool... damn man they think its made from GOLD... hehehe!

I'm better off getting it from Jeddah - Saudi Arabia.. for about 1300$ and from a 2005 car... the 2500$ one was from a 99 camaro... so it ain't even reliable... I mean the risk is veeeeeeery high...

Out of curiosity, if the Lumina SS is the Mid-East version of the Commodore, and the Commodore came with a manual trans, wouldn't that be a cheaper solution? From what I can find, the T-56 was an option on this platform, as well as the Getrag 5-spd, although I think that came with the 3.8.

i thought the commodore used the GTO transmission which is a completely different transmission.

I did some digging, and the Commodore, Monaro and GTO all use the T-56 through 2006. The "other transmission" is the Tremec T-6060. Tremec bought Borg-Warner in 1998. The T-6060 appears to be '07 and later. The T-56 and later Tremec boxes are also available in a variety of torque applications. A friend of mine blew up 3 T-56's in a modified '02 Camaro before having a Viper box professionaly rebuilt. The T-6060 might not be a bad idea, if available, as it is rated at 600 lbft out of the box. If it were my money, I'd do some digging and see what models are available and what the factory torque ratings are. As long as it came behind an LSx motor, you should be able to make it work. And for what it's worth, an LS7 clutch from GMPP is the best bang for the buck out there.

Bro I checked in Saudi Arabia... and hell my luck is so bad... none of my friend could find a T56... every scrap car was without a transmission... the only usefull thing they found was a manual T-5 from a Mustang... so please give me some feedback on how usefull that is? how much power can it handle? how much after market support does it have? will it bolt on directly on my LS1 from a Camaro 99'?

As long as it is a World Class T-5 box (used with the V8 cars), it is fairly stout. The Problem will be that the bellhousing will not work with the LS1. The T-5 also came behind the V6 Camaros and Holdens, but I don't know if the 3.8 has the same bolt pattern as the LS1 AND these are not rated for nearly the torque you'll be making even in stock trim. Here is a list of models that were equipped with the T-56 as per Wikipedia.

Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, 2001-2006 Chevrolet Corvette, 1997-2007 Dodge Ram SRT10, 2004-2006 Dodge Viper, 1992-2007 Ford Mustang Cobra, 2003-2004 Ford Mustang Cobra R, 2000 Ford Falcon XR6, XR6T, XR8, F6 Tornado/Typhoon, GT/GT-P 2004- General Motors GM F platform V8 cars, 1993-2002 Holden Commodore 1998-2007 Holden Monaro, 2001-2006 GM M12 2001–2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 2004–2006 Pontiac GTO 2004–2006 Cadillac CTS-V GM MN6 2004–2007 Chevrolet Corvette GM M10 2005–2006 Chevrolet SSR 2006 Holden VE Commodore GM MZ6 2005–2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z51

Hope this helps.
