top notch write up. well done!

for everyone else: dont ever pay 300 dollars to have someone else do something you can do yourself while drunk and having fun and listening to music, because odds are, they're doing the very same things.

Hello,

Just a quick point. If anyone is ever doing suspension/chassis upgrades or replacements it is pretty important to tighten everything up to spec. I replaced my front and rear stabilizer bars, front and rear lower control arms (with poly bushings pressed in) and replaced the T/C rods with adjustable units.

When I was done I just tightened it up as snug as possible and then got the car off of the jack stands. Two days later I heard some metal on metal rattling and sure enough the stabilzer bar bracket was starting to come loose and the washer was making all sorts of "tinkling" noise.

The simple solution? Buy some cheap ramps at Checker and tighten everything up with the car on the ramps. You have plenty of clearance to lay under there and more than enough room to use a torque wrench!

Everything is tightened up to spec and I haven't had a problem since. I hope this helps someone.

TurboKA37,

I have the three way adjustable Whiteline units available through Don at PDM Racing. The difference is amazing, especially with new shocks or coilovers. Also, I don't know of any other adjustable stabilzer bars on the market.......does anyone else know?

I have to agree with all the others that this is a great little how to. I pick up my 240 in the next couple of days and this is one mod that is on my list.

yeah cool, thanks guys. I gotta find the originals though - that's what's taking me so long. I re-formatted my computer and I backed them up someplace, I'm just having a hard time finding the disc :(

fiznat, Thanks a lot for posting this... I know it probably took some time. This is the exact setup that I'm looking at right now, yet I'm wondering if I will have clearance problems with my N1 single... Let me know what you think!

I have gotten so much help in these boards! I just happen to order these same shocks and a set of Eibach sportlines for my son's 89. We are going to do the install together next Saturday. We installed 4 Volk AG3 17" wheels with Yokahamas last week. I think the total combo will really look sharp. I will have the lap top out in the garage when we are doing this so we can follow your ( best I have ever seen) instructions. your timing could not be better!

Hey, just a note on the rear shock install. I just did the same swap on my car btw.

the bottom bushing on the schock has a small taper on one side of the sleeve which matches up to the taper on the mounting bolt to the car. In your pic you show the adjusting dial facing outwards (away from the car), but if the taper was matched up properly, the dial would face towards the center of the car. There is detail of this in the FSM.

I'm sure the shock's not gonna fall off. Just something to be aware of.

the AGX papers all said the dial should be facing outward. I'm sure you could do it either way, but I just did what AGX said to do. I noticed that taper mis-match, but it hasnt been a problem in almost 2 months of hard driving so I think it's fine. I might switch them around at some point but right now I'm not too worried about it.

Good point though, thanks!

Great write up, Fiz! If you want a quicker and easier way than holding the rod with a vise grip while you loosen the hat nut, break it before you remove the strut. I just replaced my fronts today and that was how I got around the top nut problem.

One thing I wanted to know was this: what spring rate are your eibachs? I'm looking at a decent set of springs for the future, but I'm messing with what spring rate I need since I have the added weight of the convertable

fiznat, Did you measure your drop?....Mine was only .75" rear, and maybe 0.5" front...still offensive :rolleyes

.50!

Thats not good... What did you other guys get? I am about to put these on my son's 89'... hoping for at least 1.5" in the front.

Are we dreaming?

I didnt measure it, but I noticed this weekend that my car has settled even lower than it was before. I used to be able to *just* get the floor jack under the frame, but now it's too low to get in there!! I say let it settle in a little bit and it'll drop lower.

Pretty sure the drop was still more than .5" though... like I said I didnt measure it, but look at the before and after pics!

Yeah I was thinking about doing that but I figured I'd do it right if I was gonna make a DIY about it and possibly sell the used parts later. Either way would probably work though!

Quote »One thing I wanted to know was this: what spring rate are your eibachs? I'm looking at a decent set of springs for the future, but I'm messing with what spring rate I need since I have the added weight of the convertable [/quote]The rates for the prokits are:

Spring Rate - F : 1.84~1.92kg/mmSpring Rate - R : 2.3~2.4kg/mmRide Height - F : -1.8" (eibach site) -1" (jnm240 test)Ride Height - R : -1.6" (eibach site) -.75" (test)

Also you can find rates for lots of other brand springs in the suspension forum here: http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....11638hope this helps!

ALSO: so yeah for you guys with the question about the ride hight above, I guess around 1" is standard for these springs. I donno though I felt like my drop was just enough... I love the way my car looks/feels now. If you want a lower drop then just go for the sportlines I'd say... not like the install is any different (actually it'd probably be easier since you dont have to compress them as much!).

how are the sportlines compared to the prolines for handling and everyday driving?

sportlines are the more aggressive of the two which has a stiffer spring rate and a lower ride hieght. i bought some whiteline springs and like them real well. not too bad of a ride and when u get in the turns they really stiffen up and dont allow much body roll. they were a much better feel over stock.

my prokits have been installed 3 weeks. Doubt any more settling will happen. I do like the ride quality, but i think the H&R's or Whitlines would have been a better choice. Given that they're a bit stiffer, and they drop as much as they say they're supposed to.

Anyone out there in an s13 experience the stated drop after installing prokit springs????????????????????? anyone see 1.8F/1.6R???????.....anyone.....

lol:rolleyes
