i have a 1990 nissan 240sx with the ka24e in it. i had the motor rebuilt because i thought that was the root of my problems but it still runs the exact same. it has a rough idle and will rev up in nuetral to about 6000 but as soon as you put it in gear and try to drive it it doesnt have enough power to move itself. i can get it to move at about 5 mph held to the floor in first and it wont go above 900 rpm when its in gear moving. i checked the fuel pressure today its good.the timing is dead on ive checked it multiple times. im at a total loss. any info would be helpful thanks

When you say that you checked the timing, I'm assuming that you mean the distributor? Have you checked the cam timing to make sure that it is set right? How's the compression look?

I suggest checking that the throttle position sensor is good and is adjusted correctly. I believe this can be done with a multi-meter, but haven't read too far into it as I have not had to do it firsthand.

is it an automatic or manual transmission?..if its not timing and not fuel and the motor is fresh..it maybe sumpin to do with the transmission.

its a manual. ii just picked up a throttle position sensor today so im gonna try that within the next couple of days its snowing pretty good here and i dont have a garage to do it in. i thought i read somewhere that a sensor thats in the transmission could mess things up but i dont remember it right off hand

I think your distributor is a tooth off. this happened to me when i changed my oil pump. it would idle fine but wouldnt go underload to save its life...I also was building 15+lbs of boost in nuetral...check that by pulling the distributor out and making sure that when the engine is at tdc the "D" of the distributor shaft is properly orientated.

no that has no effect...unless you didnt properly block off the egr....or properly seal that little tiny hole for the set screw on the intake manifold that held the secondary butterflies

i had the hole the egr gasses go into the intake threaded and put a plug in it with silicon to make sure it sealed. i didnt remove the rod for the butter flies just the plates off the rod

well if you just unhooked the butterflys and left them in they may have turned and be restricting air flow but letting enough through to idle but nothing else.
