Okay, I haven't driven my car in a week. I went to start it, turned the key and nothing, not even a crank...

I cut on my wipers, a/c fan and i noticed the wipers were moving really slow and the a/c barely blew. I figured it was probably the battery so I attempted to jump start it with my taurus. I hooked the cables up and waited for a few minutes. I noticed the windshield wipers were running like normal and the a/c was blowing a lot harder. I turned the key and still nothing. Just a click. I unhooked the jumper cables and tried again... nothing. I waited for a minute and turned on the a/c fan and the windshield wipers again. Once again, the windshied wipers barely even moved and the a/c was blowing pretty weak. Car still won't start Any ideas?

Its obviosly an electrical issue. If the battery is at least a few years old, it may be defective, or it needs some water. Check all connections to and from the battery, and clean off all corrosion and crud that may have built up on the terminals. Lastly, make sure your connections are good and tight.Methinks its a bad battery though.

before you do anything crazy try to get the car jumpstarted by an suv or a tow truck, or better yet get a new battery. Sometimes the battery you're trying to jumpstart with doesn't have enough juice either. Happened to me before, where some people who tried to help my fam couldn't start it, had to wait for AAA, and it started up no problem.

If the car wont start while connected to a running car with jumper cables (a click when turning the key, not a weak crank), then it is most likely a bad starter. If the car starts after connected to jumper cables, but then dies after the cables are disconnected, then it is most likely a bad alternator. If the car starts and runs after jumping, but doesnt restart after turning off then it is most likely a bad battery. Anything else, or a combination of the previous, then you probably have an electrical problem somewhere.

First things first... get a new battery. A bad cell in a battery or a couple of cells can create all the weird problems your talking about and make the car not want to start.

WRONG! The alternator has nothing to do with a slow start. Unless you've driven the car with a faulty alt and drained the battery.

Like said before. Chech your conections, cables, and "water" A.K.A. electrolyte. Your problem is most likely there. Take the battery in to a parts store for a quick charge. They can also load test the battery after the charge to see if it will hold a charge. The only other thing it could be is your starter. But with no wipers and barley any air comong out of the vents, I would start (and bet) your problem in battery related. Trust the ASE certified folks here.
