hey guys, im sorry ,im sure there is a write up of this somewhere but i used the search and couldnt find it.
is there any write up of how to do this? i have a ka24e engine and transmission (5 spd)from my 240 that im swapping a rb into and im interested in putting the ka into a old hardbody. is there any write up of how to do this and do you need the original truck transmition or are they similar?

I think the shifter locations might be different between truck and 240 transmissions, and the way the starters bolt up likewise; but exactly how different they are I don't know. I have never seen the two side by side with my own eyes.

Bellhousing patterns are the same, I am 98.5% sure on that.

Truck motor is rear sump and has 5 seperate main bearing caps where the 240 motor has front sump and one-piece girdle. Not sure if the 240 girdle will fit under a 2wd truck pan or not, I think the 4wd truck pan is too shallow for the girdle.

i did the swap on my d21 not to long ago took some time and patience but i got it done
if you want to go through with it you would need to stretch the oil pan(hit it with a hammer) change the pick up tubes get a new starter and flywheel and then just bolt everything up
i would suggest changing the engine mouts while you down there
oh yea you would have to change the oil filter adapter to the one with a slight bend in it
and like seang said the 240 transmission is a bit smaller then the truck transmission so the shifter will sit closer to the firewall and you would need to cut the floorboard and make space for it
but other then that it isnt a hard swap to do as long as you have the parts from the truck engine

its runs better i only drove it around for like a day
but i noticed a difference and my friend said the same pulls nicer and the internals are a bit different from the looks of it the 240 ka is a bit more stable then the one from the truck
