i cant seem to get the timming righti am getting a back fire in the intake. and its not wanting to start right, any ideas on some tricks to make sur the timming is right?

check the cam timing, did you mess with the cams at all before you put the engine in the car? if not, do you know if the previous owner(if there is one) of the engine messed with the cams. All you need to do is retard the cam gear on the intake side if your timing is f'd. If you know it's ignition timing then adjust the distributer at about the half way and try to start it..then retard from there till you can start it and get a timing light on that ho!
