You would probably expect to hear a 16 year old after watching tokyo drift to say 'I love the 240sx', but apparently some other people are respecting this car. Check out this article that was in the local paper today.

This "old guy" loves the 40.

Mr. Carpenter

Haha thats crazy. No offense but is there not a lot that happening in that town? I mean for that to be a full page article and all...Still very cool to see the 240 get some published respect from a publicly trusted source. Nice find

Lol, I guess not. Allentown is the 3rd largest city in PA though... Just thought it was crazy out of all the cars he could have picked from his youth / best times of his life, he picks his 240.

It's safe to say the Mr. Paul Carpenter has owned a slew of crappy cars in his time. I kid, I kid.

Wow, I wouldn't consider the 240sx to be even close to a good car. God, I wish I had money.

Definitely a cool car, but nowhere near what I could call a good car. Maybe if I got mine back in the early 90's. I might even sell mine and get something like an FC, e30, AE, something like that. All of those cars (besides the AE), I would consider GOOD cars.

EDIT: I really like my car, but everyone has to realize that these cars were supposed to be "econo-cars". They're built like s*** and weren't meant to last long. The motors are stong but the actual car isn't. Yes, I'm talking about the KA.

Uhh yeah... Not really... Anyone here that has some decent knowledge on cars will agree with what I said about the 240SX. Its really not a good car. Its a very fun car to be honest but you have to realize though, even the "god forsaken civic" was built better than the 240sx. And thats the truth, try to prove me wrong.

As much as i LOVE my car this man speaks the truth. I can't believe the condition my 240 is in and i don't plan on selling it for a long time.

But if someone offered to trade me for an equally as pristine FC i would do that in a heart beat!

The only NICE 240s in my area that i know of are all owned by older men.

As we get older we grow more of a respect for the simple things i guess.

Thanks for sharing bro!

the 240 was good for its time. just like others(fc, ae,etc) but if you compare your car to another just a few years later, like a 92 to a 97, youll see how much better that 97 was made. of all those cars, i think anyone would say something else was a better choice. DirtyGhettoKids has a point, the civic was built to last compared to the 240 that nissan kinda skimped on

I apologize, I guess i should have included in the the title more about his love for the 240 than him saying its "the best". He never says its the best car...

Continue estimating the value of a 240 compared to any other car...

240's are great cars. For how cheap they are, you get a lot of car-IRS, 4 wheel disc brakes, RWD, a bulletproof 4 banger and a whole lotta potential

I LOL at this statement. The 240SX was not good for its time. The 300zx was good for its time, which is why it had better parts than the 240SX. What you have to do is realize what the companies were aiming at. The FC (and s*** like that) were not aiming for the 240SX. The FC (IMO) is one of the best built cars of that time. You can even compare an S13 to an S14, body wise, they both suck. These cars weren't meant to be good cars. Nor, were they meant to last long.

I don't think anyone is hating on the corolla as much as they are saying it is just an econo-car that happened to be a RWD coupe.

Cool car, just wasn't intended to be a lasting memory of toyota performance like a supra or mr-2

best sports cars in the late 80s- mid 90s. 300zx, supra, rx7, mr 2,

best potential sports cars in the late 80s-mid 90s. 240sx, corolla.

Best vehicle to ever own in your life. 60-70's Vw camper van.

Edit- all in personal preference though.

The Honda is a better car? Wtf?? How many Honda's have you seen go past the 250+ mark. I havent seen any. But Ive seen plenty a 240. Quite a few on this forum.

In the nearly 10 years Ive had my 240. Ive tuned it up, changed the o2 sensor, and changed oil religiously, changed the brake pads, and fluid, changed out the bushings. I autocross once a month. Nothing has broken. I get 320 miles in city driving, 400 highway driving, around 350 mixed.

Methinks you just drive your car like crap, the 240 wasnt meant to be fast and furious. 240s that have been driven like that all have problems, not to mention the ricer kids, option video fanatics and initial D fanboys.

i think dirty ghetto has a bias since he seems to pick up the most beat to hell 240s and then complains that they arent put together well.

its a very capable car, as an econo-car. the engines require little maintenance if you leave them stock, and parts are pretty cheap.

the biggest issue as with most nissans of the past is rust.

VERY true! The only hondas i have EVER EVER seen get into the 200k's is D series old school engines. Those even were driven by original owners, who where mechanics.

hahahahaha

A lot of the cars on our block just got broken into and this made me smile haha.

Because i can see DGK on a soap box preaching about his point and then you walking up and telling him he bought the worst one in the world and that is the reason he does not like them lol.(of course that did not happen like that, but its funnier when you think about it)

Good times.

Yeah go check out the last one, I can almost guarantee its cleaner than your car. I don't b**** about the 240 being a s***ty car because I have picked up s***ty 240's. To be honest, I would rather have a s***ty 240, I could beat the s*** out of it and not care because its a piece of s***. I would love to be able to fund a project with my latest pick up but I have no money, I'm about to be going to college, and working on the side of my house sucks. Bottom line is, the 240SX was not meant to be a good car. It never was, never will be. I still love the car but anyone with half a f***ing brain will agree that its not what someone would call a "good" car.

I don't hate on the corolla at all, but it was considered an "econo-car" just like the 240. I actually really want an AE. I've probably seen like 3 in person in my whole life, really rare around here otherwise I would have picked one up already. That AE that was in your sig, was that yours? If so could you please e-mail me more pics of it? That thing looked f***ing sick.
