Me and my friend were both working on our 240's. He was working on his rear suspension which involved using a breaker bar to remove a bolt. Unfortunatly, the sweep of the breaker bar was lined up perfectly with the....you guessed it. Rotor brake shield. Long story short, the socket slipped and so did his hand. It was only 2 stitches though.

Stitches? BAH! Spray some brake cleaner on it and wrap it in duct tape!

Lost my front tooth to a breaker bar several years ago... :(

I've seen worse...

I used to say, if I don't get hurt everytime I work on my car, I'm not working hard enough. Old age and experience is making me change my mind on this one though.

... I can't remember the last time I worked on my car and DIDN'T hurt myself somehow... from epoxying my fingers together, to burning the crap out of my arms/legs/hands/eyebrows/whatever, to adding a healthy diet of blood to the various fluids in my engine... man, if I'm not hurt by the time the job's done, it'll break again, and THEN i'll get hurt trying to fix it the second time.

Why don't you try slicing your finger on a dust cover and telling us how it feels;)

Hmm...I realized something the other day. Brake fluid+black gloves=purplish black hands. Try explaining that to your friends.

two mottos come to mind:

1) Pain only means you're still alive

2) Cuts will heal, but that bolt's not comin off by itself!

I honestly don't know, but I DO know that the brake fluid broke down the dye in the gloves and trasferred it to my hands. Not a pretty sight (at least its almost all gone now)

If you let your gloves soak in warm water over night that should take care of the dye problem. My paintball gloves did that.
