I've searched the fourms to still not find a answer to my problem. Maybe u guys can help.I have a built ka24de. The car has a really rough idle when I got it. I did the tune up thinking that was the issue. New plugs wires cap and rotor. Guy before me did the fuel filter. Still had a rough idle that was so bad it would stall out. So my friend decided to increase the idle cable. The idle would be at 2k till u pulled the gas pedel out and it would go down to 1k then finally 800. My issue is that I have to tap the gas to get my car to start and when I do that the idle now hits 4k and I have to pull the gas pedel out every time and sometimes that doesn't even work. Does my throttle body need to be cleaned and my idle set back down. Any ideas would be great. I just finished building the suspendtion on the car and want to drive it. Someone please help. If u live in nh and want to show me what to do great. Thanks guys

If you have to pull the throttle than I would check the throttle cable and everything that it is connected to. Then if nothing clean the maf with maf cleaner and check timming. Then make sure no vac. lines are loose. Does it have good compression?

Okay the car does have good compression but kinda high might be cause of the high compression forged pistons but idk. Itd 10:8:1 is that bad. Anyways ill check everything tonight. Should I set the idle back to where it was when I first got the car and try to eliminate the rough idle? The maf plug has electrical tape holding it on there may that be a problem? Also I just noticed that the intake itself has duct tape wrapped around it. This guy seems to be a whack job. If u guys could see this wiring u would laugh. Sonmeone please help.

Wow duct tape? If there is air leaking threw the tape It is not being metered by the maf, cosing it to run lean ( go's your motor). You need to have all the intake air metered by the maf of it wont run right. The maf plug needs to be clipped on correctly or you might get a false signal making it run poor. 10.8:1 forged pistons are good for more power but you can blow the motor if you add too much boost. Stock is 8.5:1 which is great for running higher boost. If you get it tuned by a pro you could get some good boost levels but it must be a very good tune! Them pistons are good for race gas tunes!

POST PICS!!! I gotta see this!

stock compression is 9.5:1 btw.

from what you are saying it sounds like your throttle cable is sticking.. fix that as one of the first things.

if someone else did the work for you and you're having problems, take it back to them because you probably don't know how to diagnose / fix the problems.

did you take a timing light to the motor to see how that is? is it running super rich/lean? are you on stock injectors?

Okay so I am gonna go over to my car right now and check everything out. I am gonna readust the idle with with make my car start and stall if I don't give it gas for a little bit. Then I am gonna drive it home from the parking lot its sitting in finally and take of the intake replace it it a custom mandrel bent one I've been working on. Then I will clean the throttle body highly fix the maf sensor and see what that does. Another thing I was thinking of could the idle be bad cuz there's a air leak where the guy duck taped the intake on? Also could it becuz I am using 87 on a high compression engine with racing cam gears and what not?

Another thing my car was tagged by a fellow nico club member with a card today woot me lol. Now does anyone know how I can contact ojbutton or bjbutton something like that can barely read the writing but if he tagged my car he must live close and wanting to help. Also yes it is a ka sorry I know its the lower end motor but it keeps up with my subaru wrx with out much issue. Thanks for all the help lets keep it going lol

O yeah before I forget I am running stock injectors I believe. I don't know if its running to rich or to lean? And I don't have a timing light up here in nh to check my timing I just moved up here and left all my tools back home with my parents.

Okay update from my last post. Still answer those questions tho lol. So we set the idle back down so the pedal doesn't stick. If I don't give the car gas to keep it running it feels like its gonna stall when I drive around for a bit then stop it idles fine any ideas need some solutions lol. Should I still check the maf and the duct tape on my intake next? And then timing when I can find someone who has a timing light? So close to being done

Nissan recommends using 91+ octane on the stock 9.5:1 compression ratio! So there's no question that you need to use 91+ octane with the 10.8:1 comp. ratio! I would go get some octane boost for that 87 and only use premium from now on. Think of it this way, that 20 cent more a gallon will make up for it in gas millage and maintenance.

okay so I put octane booster in the car today. the idle wasnt as bad. So now I am thinking that its cause of the intake thats on there thats all crakced up and wrapped with duck tape lol. anyways I am trying to figure out what kinda intake I need to get for the car. its a ka24de the SOHC and it is in a 1993 why would soomeone drop that kinda motor in there. after I get it running and what not. I am gonna save up for a SR or maybe an RB =). I have looked around but am not having any luck today with finding me on. you guys know of any site for the intake that wont run me up a fortune I just sent the car out for a paint job today that looks like it is gonna cost me more then I wanted to spend =(. any help would be great. cars almost to 100% run capacity then I just got to put the interior and exterior back together lol.
