The blower motor on the wife's 1993 240SX is very intermittent. When turned on it may or may not run for several seconds to several minutes then cuts off and remains off. Any ideas?

Thanks,Bob

It's the big blue relay located on the harness behind or under where your radio is. When I did my climate conversion and didn't have the right blower resistor, it would just keep blowing when the ignition was on, I had to pull this blue relay to keep the blower from blowing.

Well, here's what's going on. From a cold start, if the blower is on high it will run until there is a power interruption such as when the engine is started or the blower switch is placed to off. After the power interruption the blower will not run again for several minutes with the ignition switch off. From a cold start, if the blower is operated in any speed other than high it will only run for several seconds up to several minutes. Also, if the blower is operation in high and the blower switch is moved to another position the fan will stop. I have checked the motor for high current draw and not knowing what to do I changed the Darlington resistor with no help. The blue relay behind the radio is working properly.

Thanks for any ideas,Bob

It could be that you blower motor resistor is going out. You don't seem to have the exact symptoms of a bad blower resistor but it's a possibility. When these go out the blower will usually only operate on full blast.

Thanks for you help positronone. Sometimes you just have to be lucky. In frustration I plopped myself down in the passenger seat and the fan started to blow. I finally traced it down to a bad ground. That is now fixed and the fan is working great.

Thanks again for your help,Bob
