?? 240sx hesitation

Hi,I have a 92 240sx with 140,000 miles on it. I was driving the other day when my car started to hesitate. I step on the gas and there is no response. I turned it off and left it on the on position again. I tried to listen to the fuel pump but can't hear anything. I tried starting it back again and the car won't start. Left the car for 5 hours and came back to start it again and it did. The car is running but there is no power at all. Like out of gas. I drove it home at 20-30mph tops. Later on halfway to my house the car picked up speed and went back to normal. What is wrong with it? You guys think its the fuel pump or fuel filter? This morning I can hear the fuel pump going.Thanks

This could be a few things, but here are some ideas:

- Distributor cap / wires.- Spark Plugs- Fuel Pump

Those would be my first instinctive guesses. Almost the same thing happened in my friends VW Passat, and it ended up being his distributor cap.
