Don't get me wrong. I really do like the SR. I don't even know what i'm going to go yet because of all the possibilities.

Yeah, now I don't either. Luckily I have some time to think about it.

I agree with Smurf6x6 def look around, the SR isnt for everyone, CA18 is a great motor and if you really want to get a motor try looking into the RB25/26 motors, jsut a littel insight there.

dr!ft wrote:For the record the CA has an iron blcok vs. the SR's aluminum block... Little bit stronger alongside a SR. Plus you can use the 1988 Pulsar NX for parts. (an american-sold car so no need to ship from the motherland)

EDIT: The CA is also like $1,800 compared with the $2500 or so SR...

CAs and SRs are about the same strength because the SR has iron sleeves. At this point SR parts have become much more common than CA parts because of stores like heavythrottle where you can gat any part you want, OEM or aftermarket, and just like the CA, the SR has a US counterpart as well, in the B13 2 liter sentra SE-R. There is no doubt in my mind that the CA has a better vavletrane and can rev alot higher alot safer than the SR. But a big drawback to the CA is you will be getting a motor that is at LEAST 13 years old.

Both engines are great but the CA is in no way better, and neither is the SR.

And like i said before, BOTH engine will suck your pockets dry of money, no matter how much of a value you think one is over the other.

I've heard good things about Venus Automotive. They are located near Sacramento somewhere.

Yeah, the RB's are some good motors. Although the RB25DET came from the Skyline GTS2.5T, which is rear wheel drive. If you where to go RB26, you'd have to buy the engine seperate and bolt on a RB25 transmission... Because the RB26 is from the GTR's that were AWD...

I still think that the CA is nice because it's light, cheaper than the others and still just as good for modding. Although I've heard that reaching 300+hp requires a swap of the head gasket, as it's been know to fail... just a heads-up.

Forgot about them skirts. But yeah, I love the high-revving nature of the CA. Still, I too agree that one of the major downsides is that it is 13 years old (they were in the 88-90 JDM S13s).

And yes, as with almost and project car, your wallet will get empty...

heard venus for a sr20det your lookin at $2000 with business license and $2500 with out. also heard they replace any damaged parts, and if you get the wrong trany they replace that for free as well. havent personally bought or dealt with venus just what i have heard.

and the rb25, and rb26 arnt the only skyline motors you can go with. the rb20det is also out there it all really depends on what you prefer and what your planning on using your 240 for. just saying its a race car dosent describe much. oh and i believe venus sells the rb20det for $1800 or so once again i have not dealt with venus so im not positive on any of the prices.

TheNewGuy wrote:Thats what I'm looking for. A good shaped 240 with a crappy engine. I already have my daily driver so this car is going to be for racing purpose and also a learning process. If I can find a S14 cheap then I'll go with it, if not...I'll go with the S13. I like the looks of both and either one, with a good paint job will look sweet! The only thing I'd do to the S13 is switch out the head lights to the sexier ones. I'm excited though and so is my Dad...he wants me to get a turboed car so we can mess around with it.
buy my car then. 201,000 miles on the original engine. perfect for a swap, excellent exterior/interior

I'm still saving Drifter so you can give him a price for it. I probably don't have enough cash to take it off. Now I have my mind set on an S13 Fastback, years 91-93. Hopefully I can find one!

Yeah if I find an S14 in the 2000 dollar range then I'll jump on it but sure that is rare. I already found a few S13's for less then 2000 dollars which is well in my price range.
