Ok, I tossed in a new headunit today and messed with all the wires for a few hours to no avail. My unit is simply not getting power. The clock still works and everything, but the unit will not turn on. Anyone know what color wire in the car is the yellow battery (unswitched) power coming from a new head unit? It's gotta be either that or the red (switched) power line that's causing me problems. When I took out the old harness (was a little Frankensteined, so I had to cut it out and rewire the whole thing) I cut out a yellow wire with a but grey piece in it... the wire is labeled '7A'. Also the red wire labeled '1A' had this piece on it. Not quite sure what these are, maybe fuses? Should I stick these back into the car inbetween the power and new wiring harness?

Right now the red wire from the head unit goes to blue and the yellow goes to orange/blue. These are the wires the old harness connected to, so I would think they are right.

Any ideas as to why I am not getting power? I think I have all the wires connected correctly. My car is a 1996 240sx base (2 speaker) model, but I tossed in rear speakers, so now it's 4 speaker if I can ever get it to work. It also had a Panasonic 6 disc changer in it that I tore out because it sucked and skipped when I shifted. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help you can toss my way!

Didn't check the fuse in the deck cause its brand new, maybe I should check it...Tried to switch the yellow (unswitched battery power) wire around to no avail.I am sure yellow and red are power, they are labeled.Deck did nothing.I turned the car on.

More info...

Ok, the wiring harness coming from the car only has 2 wires attached: blue (goes to red switched power in new stereo) and red/blue (goes to orange illumination in new stereo). I noticed there is a second blue wire that was cut going in to the same slot as the blue wire I attached the wiring harness to. This old blue wire was hooked up to the red switched power directly from the old head unit (the harness I am plugged into was not used, but some wires for the front speakers were cut off and recrimped somewhere else, but I already took care of those. There is also a red/yellow wire coming out of the harness that attaches to nothing on the other side (the new harness/ female end has no new wire coming from that spot). Any ideas what this is? Also any clue about those fuses I mentioned earlier? (are they even fuses? They are about 2 inches long and grey with a glass cylinder in them)

I'd really like to get my radio working, so if anyone can help me out here, I'd love it.

Ok, I fixed it. Decided to cut out the old wire harness and frankenstein it. To my great joy, it worked! I think that it was the 2 blue wires that did the trick, I needed both or just the second one, because the one I was using didn't do shiat.

Anyway, off to go listen to music!
