how would i go about repairing the nut on the hatch that the strut screws in to? it has become detached from the hatch itself and i have no way of securing the strut. thanks

So the nut is supposed to be fixed to the hatch some how? (I don't have a hatchback, I've got a coupe) and it broke off? If its all metal, you could weld it, or try JB welding it.

yeah, the nut was originally "welded" to the hatch. guess i could weld it but may be tricky doing it from the outside. probably originally afixed before glass was put in.

Is the nut on the inside where you cant see it or on the outside? There are hole casings you can buy that you insert in the existing hole and then screw the bolt in.

you could also inject wood, cement , fiber glass resin into the hole to fill the hollow part and then drill hole into it. not sure it would work. best to google for answer or consult a general hardware forum.
