i am picking up my second s14 on saturday, if all goes well...

i can't wait to get back in a nissan

without further adieu... my future s14

" i have a 1996 240sx S14 with a kadet dohc engine . It has 5 zigen wheels that are 17 by 9 all aorund with bfg 235 45 front tires and toyo 255 40 rear tire. Disc brakes all the way around and fronts are drilled and slotted rotors. It has a 90 modle infiniti j30 rear diff and axles. It has a act stage 2 clutch that is still in great condition. 8k HID headlights. It has a t70 turbo that spulls up nice, sr20det 370 CC injectors, a synapsis BOV that runs for about 300 dollars. Front mount and piping. It has a complete apexi 3 inch exhaust. Also has aftermarket solid engine mounts, there not stock. it is dropped on emotor complete coilovers. Autometer oil and boost gauge. AEM wideband. It has a pioneer radio/CD player in it. A greddy front lip that gives the car a different look. The oil was changed 500miles ago . Its a really strong car and turns everbodys head. I currently have it boosting on 7 pounds psi and has never seen more than 10 pounds. It has bass map tune and has absolutley no under rust, fram rails are clean. 20 percent tints all the way around. The engine in the car currently was changed out and has 72000 miles. It was taken apart and has had all gaskets including the head gasket replaced and also all chain and tensinors have been replaced. The head was rebuilt with all new internals and minor port. "

not too shabby for 4k

you are xceed correct? your sn sounds familiar. \after the bmw i got a bmw and then a q45 for winter; the q45 blew a rod on the second day i had her, so i parted and scrapped her. i still have my second bimmer but she will be gone in the spring to the highest bidder.

i went to go see the car. i found a bit of rust, the car needed a new battery, the turbo had tons of lag, (70 trim on a ka, go figure), and i think coilovers are too hard core for me, not to mention they were s***ty emotor coils. and the exhaust was leaking everywhere. there were too many little things that bothered me about the car to get it like: solid motor mounts shaking the whole car, weird noises everywhere, loose steering, and everything in the interior was loose and the guy was selling so quickly, just after he got it. also i wouldn't have been able to drive it home because it is too low. i kind of regret not getting it but he said he could deliver on a trailer for another 100$. i don't know what to do really, i want it but it's not practical and not too reliable.

i think i will get it after all as soon as someone reassures me that it is a good deal. anyone?

The add is very poorly written. I probably wouldn't have even went to see the car.

Going by your description it sounds like he just threw parts at it hoping they would work and when they didn't work like he thought they should he decided to sell instead of fixing the little things. Do a compression check if you're really interested but if he can't get the exhaust right before he sells there's no telling what gremlins are in the turbo system.

i took a chance; i almost bought it... all the things you mention also scare me but for 4k i almost said f*** it, i'm going for it. i kind of regret not doing it but i don't want to buy a pos and on the other hand, i figure i could resell for 4k if i am not satisfied. i really should be saving money for college but i miss my 240 too much and i am really passionate about drifting. gahhh decisions.

Either way you're going to have to do work... Buy a cheap S13 with a blown motor, swap in an SR and be happy. At least then, you'll know what's going on with it.

as far as the car goes, my .02 says dont buy a headache, in can tell you like your s14's and if ti wasent for one i would have never got a 240. but up here they are hard to come by, there was a 96 red s14 5spd on c-list, guy didnt have any ideay what he had. he put it on there for $1500. it was gone the next day. (it would have been mine but that mornin i bought a z, so ) there are always s13's tho which pop up pretty offten, and usally for around a grand, so u would have all kinds of money to put in to it. wheather its a s14/s13 whatever, its genrealy a good idea not to buy someone elses headache.

Well if you don't mind fiddling with it a bit go back, check the compression, raise the ride height, and drive it home. Or it might be a better idea to take him up on the offer of trailering it and sort the problems out before driving it to far. I'd be ready to drop a grand or so into it though.

just so happened to stumble across this thread and find it a little funny.. this is my buddy's s14 you were at my house 240sx_guy honestly this car is well worth the $4000 just like any other old car it has its little imperfections but honestly it was nothing to bad to drive you away.. your offer of 3500 was a little ridiculous and on the low baller side.. its understandable as to all the imperfections listed.. the rust only on the rocker panels normal slap a side skirt on there and its not noticeable. frame rails are spotless thats the only thing that really matters. battery its winter time car sat for probably the coldest 5 days of the season so far and he bought a new battery now. turbo lag 70 trim always happens ive always bugged him about having that big of turbo its pointless.. coilovers are decent for the money not top of the line but give the car a nice ride height. the leak in the exhaust is a relatively easy fix. solid motor mounts honestly your the 1st person i ever heard complain about them personally id rather have the solid motor mounts anyday over my engine shaking every which way.. im sorry for this story i typed but just trying to cover everything cuz this car is not a p.o.s. and my friend was pretty disappointment when i showed him this thread but everybody's got their preferences and if this thing doesnt sell before my civic (blue car pictured above) i will be picking it up to keep in the family

a lot of little things threw red flags that scared me away. i am still interested and i still have the money if y'all are interested in bringing it up here. honestly there was no way with how low the car was to drive it home. michigan does not have the kindest roads and i am sure the lip or even the whole bumper would have been gone by the time i got home.

The way you say "just slap a sideskirt on there" would make me wonder about the craftsmanship of the rest of the car. Just my $0.02.

well we didn't do any work on this car my friend got it the way it stands and craftsmanship is pretty good.. sorry if you take what you quoted the wrong way but that's how i look at it i personally don't care for looks when it comes to a 240 if its gonna be used for drift whats the point in it looking pretty just zip tie a kit on and go but my friend selling the car on the other hand thinks different from me and wouldn't do that i was just putting my 2 cents in as to hide the rocker panel rust if it bothers someone that much..

The Zenki looks clean but looks can be decieving....

Kinda iffy deal going on though, car seems to have a few problems that would bug me, and would keep me from buying it.....that's just me though....
