alright im in the process of swapping in a gen 1 355 small block chevy into my 93 s13

im going to be using a 4 speed and will probably need a taller gear ratio than the stock 4.08.

i want to keep my 4 lug axles if possible i really love my wheels and brakes that i have. im going to have a custom driveshaft anyway so that part is no problem.

basically what are my options? if i buy an aftermarket lsd (obx, tomei, kaaz.. etc) will that change my gearing at all? if i understand correctly im thinking not.

any help is much apprieciated.thanks,chris

1st thing u can switch axels without switching hubs so u can stay4lug if u change from stock 6bolt to a 5bolt pattern

getting an aftermarket lsd for any of these i dont think would changur gearing cuz u unbolt the the gear off ur old diff and slap it on thenew diff

and b4 u get a custom driveshaft pick one first im sureu know that but sum diff cases are longer or shoter then the other

here are sum alright reads bout ur optinoshttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=166641http://www.ka24development.com/vlsd.html

i forgot the website u can get biff gearing from but if i find itlater ill try and remember you but they are not cheap

As apex760 said, buying any aftermarket lsd won't change the gearing - it's just the lsd unit, not the entire diff; you'll use your old gears.

If you want taller gears, you have 2 options:

1) buy new gears from Nissan/Nismo; I'm pretty sure they still sell new gears, but you'd have to check, last time I remember someone buying new gears (shorter in this case) was a couple years back.

2) use an lsd such as one from a J30 (you can search on those) - this will give you 3.96 gear, which is plenty tall for a lot of us.

Other than that, if you search/browse the engine, suspension, tech, etc forums, you should find the info you need (and the info I just mentioned).
