Its seems like were being flooded with silly non-sense anymore in this sub-forum. Completely off topic post, questions that a search can answer in a second, trolling, and flaming. Its just too much some days.

Are we short moderators on this sub-forum? Or is a just an overwhelming surge of Newb? Nico has always been and will always be my favorite 240 / Nissan forum, but it starting to get painful.

Greg, you have my email somewhere, if you need any help with moderation at all.

I would like to blame myself for this, or at least part of it. I have been absent as of lately, I Just graduated and I am jobless, Spending time on NICO has been down on my priority list. I will try my best to get things organized. Sorry for things getting out of hand. And Thanks for sticking with us!

I'm around, but I have to babysit a 7 year old from morning till night. Not exactly a lot of NICO time (I can post this cause he's taking a shower right now). I scan the forums as best as I can and weed out trouble threads when I can find them, or I see particular people as thread starters.

I'll start reading through here from now on. But I have very little tolerance for stupid. If I see it, I'll call it/remove it.

You guys know that if something is turning out bad, you can alert one of us via email/aim/webmaster account etc.

If a noob posts something stupid, either ignore it or answer it. Flaming will be tolerated less then reposts.

None of this is made to be negative, it was just to get some attention as to what been going on.

Informative, helpful, friendly:uhhuh (for the most part).

Japanese vans, Check out my Nissan beltbuckle, has anyone put a 350 into a 240, my girlfriend said this about a Celica. It was becoming the new General Discussion

I thought I saw that thread moved to Gen Chat a while ago.

This is the main issue with 240 GC. People have to remember that this forum in particular is ground zero for new people with 240s or people that are looking to get into the 240 world. So you're going to have reposts ad naseum. You're going to see people who post up completely misinformed threads, or ask a question repeatedly. It's expected of gen chat. WD made a good comment in private that that form of activity is less tolerable in the tech forums, but it's expected in the gen chat boards.

I usually let a lot of those threads slide because I want to make the board slightly more noob friendly than our older members would probably want. The main reason is to generate traffic flow and grow our userbase. We all had to start somewhere to learn, I was fortunate enough to have a mentor that had 35+ years of wrenching under his belt to teach me and make me look less like a noob. However, if you want to see just how misinformed I was when I first started, take a look at some of my original posts. I couldn't even spell convertible right.

What truly makes 240 GC the pit it is today is the backlash from members to the noobness that gets funneled in. We have people who come in, ask a question that could be searched for, and then they get flamed and harassed. I will say that our search function can be finicky at times. I just searched for my posts and I was popping up with posts in 2002, when I didn't join until 2003. So our database of older posts is a bit wonky.

All I ask for is that our older members try to help out the newer people in a constructive way. Instead of saying "search noob", just say "try searching for -topic here-". If the OP comes back and says I can't find it using those keywords, but you found his answer with the same keywords on the first page of results, then you can be a little agitated.

Think of the staff. We have to bite our tongues when we see some of the people that post up here. I've been around for almost 6 years now. I've seen a lot of topics and posted in many of them.

Maybe I need to redo our FAQ and make it more informative. It was a project I was going to work on, such like I redid the SR FAQ, but I never got off the ground and finished it. Maybe with the wave of unrest I'm seeing currently, it would be a good time to get off my lazy bum and do it.

Yeah, sometimes we're hard on the noobs, but to be honest... they're my main source of entertainment while I'm at work. I'd be bored to death without them! lol

I've been trying to be nicer to them or just keep my mouth shut. But it feels good to be helpful too.

That's what communication is all about man. If there is a problem, bring it up. We're all just car dudes like you, cept way smarter, cooler and better looking

I think the basic gist is that we need to keep things a tad cleaner all around. Not a problem at all.

This about sums it up for me.

240gen is sloppy and nonsensical because the vast majority of people who buy 240's aren't capable of producing coherent thoughts or posts.

I'm just kidding. I love you all... I swear...

I'm down 100% to be a mod.

I'm on here like ALL THE TIME, and rarely flame noobs unless it is justified.

Seriously, think about it. Pleeeeeease!
