my opinion isnt biased either. ive "purchased" one in the past and while the v6 is about equal to the ka in power, they just arent built well. the transmission WILL fail, the wheel studs will break off randomly, the suspension is horrible, the interior is very cheaply made. mods please lock thread

i had a 98 avenger, it was mint and bought it for $800, slapped a for sale sign and sold it for 4k a month later. but that 2 years ago when the economy wasn't as bad.

Yeah, i went on the thought that you might have a little rust. But in all seriousness, if the 240 is shot to hell and this guy is that eager that he's throwing in other stuff on top of the car itself, then that should show you what a 240 is worth. If you honestly know that you can sell it for 2500 then go for it. Couldn't see a problem with that. Hell go ahead and find a place to put up an add and see how many hits you get. But the chances of the Avenger being a pos are high. These cars do catch on fire, every dodge has transmission problems in its lifetime (most of the time at 100k mi), and look how eager the guy is to get rid of it. You gotta step back and look at the whole picture. If you end up losing money in the whole deal you'll feel like

Not to diss you or anything but a Dodge Avenger and a 350Z are two totally different cars. Also how long ago did he sell it? If it was in the summer time or a few months ago sure i bet he did get that but now,i guarantee you you'll be hard pressed to get your money back outta it.

I don't understand..

Why not keep your s13 and just mod it?

Trading it, selling other cars, and then trying to get another 240 seems me like it would be just a bunch of inconvenience... Especially with the economy the way it is right now.

I think if it was going to be such an easy car to sell, he would have sold it by now.

Keep us updated on what you decide to do though.

One Love,

Ghasty

Please just trade it.

You have two pages of people trying to convince you otherwise with past experience of the car being a horrible investment yet, you still try to argue with them. You obviously want the car so just do it. I know someone who had one last year and both of the problems listed happened to him. transmission went out around 98,000 or so and after spending TOO much money of fixing that, it caught fire.

The car did deserve it though, it was red with white wheels and the owner bragged about the resemblance to the viper.

PLEASE don't ask someone's opinion if you never really wanted/needed it in the first place.

ok you all made me do it

this is why im bent on getting rid of the 240 and why its so worth it to get the avenger also the kids first words to me were and i quote "i want a DRIFT car" end quote so i jumped on it and milked it for everything

PS my car also has racing holes in the floor i could literally stick my foot through the floor to stop and the calipers broken need struts and alot of work

edit - i needed peoples opinions but its my fault i didnt provide all of the info that would deem the trade right in my mind sorry

Good luck with the car. Post pictures up of both man. I wasn't trying to be an ***, but you had already decided before you clicked the "new thread" button.

They may be crap, but they do out sell stock and especially thrashed 240's around here.

dont do it, i had <----------had a 96 avenger and still have my 240, the dodge sucked...... heavy, slow, huge!!!!!!!!minimal performance upgrades, interior sucked, worst enineering ever, seriously who put an ecu in the engine bay, asking for trouble, your better off driving a semi through the one lane streets of italy that trying to drive this thing. 40 foot turning radius. maintnance.......yeah you have to take off the entire intake manifold to change the spark plugs on the v6........overall it sucked. i cringed every day that i had to drive that car because my wife hated driving that car so much...and it was her car......i almost had to give it away since it dropped almost 1000 in value in the course of 3 months......

I agree with ZenkiOwns. You already had it in your head what you were going to do. You are convinced you need to sell it so do it and let us know the results. You can get a s13 around here with no damage and barely running for around a grand and couldn't pay someone to take an avenger so obviously things are different in different places. Go ahead do the trade....then post up what happens after you get it. If everything goes the way you want it then we'll all be stoked for ya and tell you to go buy another 240 with the cash. If it all goes to hell then you'll prolly get an "I told ya so"

Good Luck
