240sx ES steering rack bushing install

Ok installed my ES steering rack bushing the other day my passenger side has alot of play in it?The kit said universal s13 and s14Is this normal to have the play? I can actully push up on the passenger side and it moves - doesnt seem to me to be correct for this to happen?

that's not really normal... did you guys tighten down the bolts on the rack enough or worse yet, did the bolts strip?

Yeah I torqued them to 80 ft lb and no stripped bolts - I was thinking that is wasnt right and the rack should be tightened up - the driverside is tight - but I have that play on the passenger side?

I was thinking of cutting the bushing - because I can actually overlap it its too big - but then I was thinking even though its too big - when I torqued it down it should still be tight. So cutting it wouldnt help the situation - would it?

Ok update and problem actuallly solved

I did an *** load of searching

OK the s13 and s14 ES kits are not universal!

The driver's side will work on both chassis

But the Passenger side will not work on the s14 with out doing some doubling up!

SPL sells a kit with the ES driver's side bushing and a Nismo passenger side bushing - but its a $50 kit verses the $10 ES kit

I have emailed ES about this issue to see what they wanna do to resolve it.
