now's a great time to learn! hee hee.
basically, if you search on google or read through the FSM, there will be some procedures for you to follow. I would check there for the most comprehensive coverage.
Overall, here is basically what you are doing:
- 1) okay, I fried a wire, let's see, the only 2 wires I know of that shorted are these 2...- on each wire, find out where the other end goes & whether it is suppose to be a negative or positive (you can find this info in the FSM).- begin tracing and see if a positive wire is getting grounded/shorted somewhere, if it's a ground, see if it's getting a positive reading (or even if it's suppose to have any reading when the car is off/battery is out etc) - you can do this w/ continuity testing vs a ground point (again, you can search on how to do this).
You may find something, you may not - that's the problems that happen when you short stuff that you don't know about - they don't call em electrical nightmares for nothing.
From what it sounds like (this is just a shot in the dark given the info you have given), you may have messed up a relay somewhere.
You say your car is eating your battery, & since your battery holds a charge, when the car is off, some wire that isn't suppose to be powered is getting power & draining the battery. You will have to go through each wire you suspect & reference vs. the FSM to see if it is suppose to be getting power or not when the car is on/off.
That is about as clear as I can explain it w/o being there, hope it helps.
It really pays off to have friends experienced in this stuff locally.
