Hey guys, first id like to say I'm new and I'm sorry of this isn't where I'm supposed to post but I just have one question.

So I replaced the alternator on my 1989 240sx, and now whenever I hit a bump and sometimes just randomly, all the gauges in my cluster will just jump around and sometimes just shut off, also my headlights will flicker and my wipers will randomly go by themselves super slowly. Does anyone know what could cause this? I thought maybe I have a loose alt connection or I over torqued the belt. Any help is appreciated:

Well, you can start by checking all the wires at both battery terminals and the alternator - if you can move the wire on the terminal they need to be tighter. Also check the main ground wire that goes from the metal battery tray corner to the intake manifold.

Another really common thing is the main wiring harness that runs under the driver's side fender gets damaged from an accident or lowering or bad luck. All kinds of crazy things happen when that harness shorts out. Take the fender liner out and get some light up under the fender and start inspecting that harness for damage. It's usually at the point closest to the tire.

Good luck!

Thanks! Is the fender liner the wheel well? I'll check it out, thanks for the reply
