I have a question..I have 93 240SX that I am having electrical problems with. We have tried everything & come up with nothing. If anyone has any ideas or has ever experienced this & can shed some light on the situation I would be greatly appreciate it! I want to take it in as a last resort, so we are trying to troublershoot as best we can right now. So far we have checked:

PLEASE HELP!

Put the key to start & when you get to the start position it just sits there, the car never trys to turn over. All the gauges start moving & the lights come on, but the car never trys to turn over. For a while there would be a slight delay. Like you would try to start & it would take a second to catch. Then Sunday I left first thing in the morning to run an errand & a few hours when I went to leave again it would not start. When you pop the clutch it starts up just fine. Everything that we can think of has been tested, but with no luck so far, we are thinking a wire may be loose. Hoping someone else out there has experienced this problem & can help. Wondering if it is the key maybe......just need any ideas

It seems to be a lose wire or something in the ignition, but just cannot figure out where or why there is this problem all of a sudden

We pulled the ignition switch & everything checks out....No alarm so we are still working at it. Finally found the Chilton manual for my year & hopefully will shed some light.......FRUSTRATED though.....

Is it a 5 speed or auto? Have you checked your park/neutral and clutch switches yet?

it is a manual, pop the clutch & starts beautifully....checked the clutch safety switch, works fine. try to jump it, full voltage. something in the ignition not registering, this all went down on Sunday....try to start on Tuesday starts fine. turn off & then turn on again, won't start now.

no clicking when you turn to on position, just sits there. like a wire is loose waiting to catch or something........

im still having that same exact problem.. i rewried a switch to turn on my starter so it will start up fine. but i really want to fix the problem im thinking its either the ignition switch or a busted relay in the engine bay. but i need a wiring schematics or something with out that im lost in the world of wires

I got the Chilton's import manual looking for some wiring info, but really got nothing out of it. I gave up & have friend taking it into a shop that he knows & trusts, maybe we will get our answers that way............

Hooray!$16.99 later it was the starter relay. Frustrating that it took 4 days to figure it out, but at least problem solved!

I'm having the same problem as you. I don't know if s14s have a starter relay. I'm sure it does, I just have no clue where it is. Good job drj.

I just fixed it, positive cable connecting to the battery terminal was loose, so basically the entire harness wasn't getting power. Unfortunately I have white smoke now.

Always connect and diconnect ground wire first, You allowed power to touch to ground and "let the smoke out." Guess i am to to late to though huh.
