I got a set of eibach pro-kit springs. Tomorrow I'll get a spring compressor from sears. Are there any common "unforseen" problems for which I should prepare? (parts that tend to need replacing instead of re-use, or tools that are handy but not mentioned in the FSM)

Here's a before shot.

nice SUV!

sorry to tell u, but it's gonna look more or less the same after, haha.

You may want to get strut boots for the hell of it since the stock ones are long gone by now.

And point the spring away from ppl & breakable objects.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanx, but its a dune buggy.

The Pro-kit is just a stop-gap until i can develop enough discipline to save enough for some jic coilovers. But until then any decrease in that ri-gd-diculous gap is welcomed. I hope it will make some difference, if not My wrath will be felt! By whom, not sure but i'm pretty sure it will be well misdirected. Maybe the mailman.

I am here to save you money my fellow Niconaut.

There is no point in buying a spring compressor if you have an Autozone nearby. They rent out many tools absolutely free! If you do have an AZ close, go in and ask for a SPRING & STRUT compressor. Not just spring compressor, it must be spring and strut. They will charge you $40, and refund your money when you bring it back. You'll have to compress the springs down using a wrench(or air tools if you're one a dem rich boys), but it works.

Four hours & fifty-five minutes. Thats how long it takes. It is also not fun. Next time I could probably do it in Two - three.

save your money, you really dont need a spring compressor if your installing lowered springs, only if your putting the stock springs back on. i installed my coilovers and my cousin's with out them. just be very careful not to hurt yourself. if you lift the whole front end of car, the spings are barely compressed, making pretty easy to take them off. same goes with the back (i think). i forgot exactly... but i do know that i didnt touch or have the need for a spring compressor, and neither did my cousin.

Finally got some after pix

It was putting the springs on the struts that took forever, and trying to line up the top of the strut with the bottom, because all my sharpie marks rubbed off.

They are Z32 30mm rotors.
