Hey guys I need some help, I was driving down the road, and my 240 started cutting out, I'd keep the throttle consistant, it would act like it wasn't getting fuel and then all of a sudden resume with normal acceleration, happened multiple times, a few seconds at a time, so I pulled over and got some oil, thinking I was low and there was an oil cut safety switch on the motor (KA24DE)... Pulled the oil stick and read right between the marks, but I put a quart in anyways, and now it reads way full, but it hasn't cut out anymore, but I'm hoping it's not overfilled. Anyone have anything to help? Thanks

I would drain some of the oil NOW to get it back under the full mark. You do not want to overfill your oil. Better to run a quart low than a quart over. When I was a kid, I overfilled my car and it blew out the rings in no time! I would check for air/vacuum leaks in the intake stream. MAF cars hate unmetered air getting in or out, lol. If you're good there, check your plugs to see how the engine is running and double check your plug gap. Maybe you're running out of fuel somehow, I've had cars do that in the past as well. Basically, check the simple things first, but don't ever overfill your engine with oil! Good luck!

Thanks man, I think it may have been the plugs, but after I filled with oil, no problem, my plugs are pretty rough though

Start with the basics for sure. When was the last time it had a tune-up? Plugs/wires/cap/rotor/fuel filter?

GET THAT EXTRA OIL OUT OF THERE NOW!!!

Check your mass air flow meter(MAF) or the plug that goes to it.

^Good tip. By now, early 240sx harnesses are getting pretty old and questionable :)

I also recommend shaking the harness around the injector sub-harness/TPS/Coolant Temp Sensor area.
