240SX Cruise Control Assembly ASCD

Hello to all,

I just registered with your NICO Club-great Website.
Has anyone had to replace their Part Number 18930-40F00 Cruise Control Assembly (ASCD)? Mine failed, and the local Nissan Dealership tells me Nissan doesn't manufacture them any longer, but it's Retail Price was $624.45. OUCH, what a joke. I just bought an entire MG (British Motors) 1275cc engine for my Morris Minor for $500.00, complete! This thing cannot be Rocket Science.
Then a young guy at the Dealership offered to sell the one from his car, which is all stripped for racing. He plugged it in, and we took a drive, but still, the cruise control didn't work. Then I found one on the Internet in Florida (AAMAUTO.COM) for only $17.99 and shipping. I hooked it up, and still the cruise control does not work. After calling several shops, it appears the ASCD cannot be "bench tested". Initially I thought the problem was with the switch on the steering wheel, but the Mechanic at the Dealership said there was power to and from the switch. So I'm at a loss. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
