I've had my crank windows on my s13 screw up several times where I have to take the door apart and fix something. Fix is not well defined because twice I just jiggled stuff and it started working, but one time there was a flattened spring that was around the cable jamming the spool and the only way I could fix it was removing the spring. I was just wondering if anyone else has had (and hopefully solved these jamming problems). I think these problem start when a passenger cranks the window really hard the wrong way at the end of travel, but I'm not sure. It gets really annoying to have to get in there and fix it every six months or so. Any thoughts?
edit: fixed the problem, just wanted to report back with details.
When it broke the latest time, I noticed that a plastic piece that holds the end of the cable shroud in the correct position had broken and since the cable was just flopping around it was misfeeding on the spool and binding. I am pretty sure this was due to a passenger cranking really hard on the handle in the wrong direction. Anyway, I epoxied the plastic piece back together and it would probably work, but in the meantime I bought a replacement manual regulator on ebay and just swapped it out. So far so good.
