yeah...i don't buy the heating up in the block theory either. That's why the radiator's there.

uhh...wouldnt it take longer to get up to temp with the holes in the thermostat? like what black s13 says, the thermostat impairs the flow. with the holes there, flow is increased, making the engine reach operating temp more slowly since the heat need to get there is "leaking" :D

damien-how is the troubleshooting coming along?

YEs compared to stock, it will take longer but compared to "no thermostat" it will take less time.

but theres a flaw in that concept. the thermostat relies on pressure to operate. as the temp rises, the pressure does as well. when holes are drilled, that pressure cant be produced, and the thermo will not open correctly, or at least thats what my trials have shown.

like i said, if i could have a thermostat i would, but the piece broken off my head prevents it.

this has just been my findings. i work with cars all day and have seen cars overheating badly. only to find the thermostat has no center cause they are made of plastic . this is mostly on dodges and alot of neons.

probably because that plastic has to go somewhere, and gets stuck in **** and stops the flow of coolant. not using a thermostat makes your car run unpredictibly cooler.
