First time poster here, got 1989 240SX S13 SOHC automatic.I have to give pretty good 7~9 cranks to get it started when cold, either in morning or parked for a while. Once started, runs fine, no idling problems, no pinging, or no hesitation. I searched and found that some people have reported issue resolved with some orange wire connection corrections, couldnt get any definate locations and pictures. The previous owner has worked on teh wiring under the steering for new CD player install (who knows what else). Can anyone help me with step wise instructions (or direct me) where can I get some clear things to check for.Teh other minor issue is the suto shifting. When not in overdrive (switch off), looks like teh transmission jumps from 2nd to 4th (or appears to be so). After few seconds (or pressing accelerator hard), it jumps back to 3rd. Intrestingly, it does not happen when in overdrive mode (switch on). One more thing, teh car has bigger tires in back than in front (5mph faster than teh speedo shows at 60mph).Any comments and help will be appreciated. Thanks

If you are referring to a recent thead that i particpated in, the orange wire has nothing to do with the start circuit.

Your symptoms are most likely caused by a weak battery. Jump start the battery to see if car starts easier.
