hey i'm a noob and i was wonderin' what all does it take to cut down to under 2500?i've removed all rear panels, the back seats, all rear carpeting and decking, the spare and jack, speaker assemblies,my stupid broken auto seat belt retractors,my a/c, and some other stuff. a rear decklid is too expensive and i don't know what a carbon hood'll take off?

i dont kno the exact numbers, it might vary from where u get it, if u get one get a vented one, not something that looks ricer aggresive, just something subtle to let ur engine breathe even more. the carbon fibre is considerably lighter than the stock hood, that i kno, but im not exact on numbers.

if i can remember, the last time i went to bruce nomura shop, there was a supra there with a fiber glass hood, i think. it was something along that line, it was made of fiber that i know. it weights like 7lb only.

Yeah the stock hood should come in ~30 and a carbon one should be ballpark 10. The hatch can be a pretty significant drop in weight if you also use lexan instead of the oem window.

Here's a ballpark figure you should be able to hit if you're really serious about weight reduction. Ditch the flip up assembly and go with a fixed position lighting system (supermade, east bear, or silvia lighting), carbon hood, carbon hatch with lexan, carbon doors, and stripping out the interior and sound deadener, strip the ac, and cruise control, you should be able to hit the mid to low 2300's mark while retaining your ps.

Yeah get carbon doors in your car so you can die in a collision.

Carbon is actually going up in price right now. There are a very small number of companies that acctually manufacture the base fibers and most of there run (I have heard rumors anywhere from 6 months -2 years worth of production) are being taken up by major defense contractors especially with the 7E7 the new airbus A3ginormous and the JSF ramping up production. However if you do some research or are near the northwest you can sometimes find boeing scrap that is bigger than you need for a hood...give it a shot yourself its fun
