well, i heard if u remove ur headers and entire exhaust u might see some sort of hp difference. also, remove your entire intake up to the throttle body, and cut a hole in your hood so the throttle body sticks out like on some corvettes.

No, you need to get

1) The electric turbocharger on ebay2) Tornado fuel saver - improves gas mileage AND gives you hp!3) engine additives4) advance timing kit on ebay5) and lots of stickers on the side of your car and a big wing- it improves the aerodynamics which makes your car accelerate faster.

There you go, all that can be had for under $200 and your car will be screaming fast!

take out every thing that you do not have to have to drive, remove the hood, rear seats, speaker, stero, side mirrors rearview mirror, spare tire, and jack, and what ever else will come loose, less weight= a little bit faster, and best, it's free

hhmmm......so....stickers make your car go faster!? which namebrand is the fastest?

just save yourself the time...and quit the "High-Schooler-Punkified-car" ......"jokes"

you made yourself clear enough.....just because i'm new to the forum and I'm wondering about increasing performance doesn't mean I'm a high school punk trying to punkify my car!

I was just wanted some peoples advice, people like you who might have already made improvements to your 240SX

but I guess thats what I get for not being a "forum groupy"

As long as the stickers are advertising a product that isn't actually on your car, you will gain HP...or at least that's what I've been told.

Get the newbie. Dustin, 240 has a load full of power from stock already. Why do you need the extra power when you can burn vettes in stock form?

:) c'mon, don't patronize the guy, he's just trying to learn.......

just go for basics, intake/exhaust/headers(if you plan to stay NA)you can get them for relatively cheap, depends what brand or route you go, a universal muffler with custom piping and like a drop-in or cone-style air filter should boost performance a bit, but like everything else in life, you get what you pay for. If you got a full intake and a cat-back exhaust you'd make a good deal more power. As for the absolute cheapest way to go fast, look into nitrous, but do your research about it, as someone else here said, its not very userfriendly. If I was in your place, I'd just save up for an sr20.......

thanks wingzero, finally some honest advice, straight to the point.

I want to keep things simple, as for nitrous, I would never touch the stuff. as for stickers on the car, I pitty the fool who thinks it makes their car "look faster", "look cooler"....etc. and those aluminum wings that people put on there cars, well, they just make me laugh. And the thought of ripping out the back seat and stripping the car down just to make it a few lbs. lighter, its like torturing a vehicle! I would never torture my 240SX ...*sniff----------------------------------

haha this thread is hilarious. Keep it up people!

If you want FREE mods that'll help a little, you can

1) remove the intake box below the bay,

2) advance your timing a degree or two and run higher octane gas,

3) start stripping down unnecessary weight,

4) and get your car TUNED UP with new fluids and parts.

There's no such thing as cheap mods. If you wanna play, you gotta pay.

....*music starts*....RICE-A-RONI........the SAN FRANCISCO TREAT.....*music stops* (sorry, really bored)

btw, Dustin, sorry for flamin u dude, wat year 240 u got? how old are u? j/w. yeah like they said getting the inhale and exhale of the engine updated will do WONDERS, this would include Intake, headers, and exhaust, all three are required for the full breathing equation... think of it like this... y would u bring more air into the engine from an intake if u still have a highly restrictive exhaust that cant necessarily spit out all ure bringing in...and if u are goin NA, then y just an intake and exhaust when u are kinda choking it in the middle from stock headers... didnt know if u were new to tuning or just new to 240 so i wanted to be safe and explain it all for the NA route...personally i just got intake and exhaust cuz im saving for turbo.

well, 240sx2nr95, i'm 21, and I will most likely get a 96 240SX real soon. I love the 240SX design, I've always been a nissan freak, I first fell in love with the 280z, even created a website dedicated to them. Anyways....I just wanted to know what most people end up doing to there 240's because I wasn't sure if you guys were happy with the stock performance on them or if you put some money into upgrading them. And I'm no expert on modding if you hadn't noticed, probably because its a waste of money if your driving a car that you plan on getting rid of (84' Mustang)

im kinda offended by the high school thing. what does being in high school have to do with tuning your car? the only thing i can think of is that i dont have as much money to do stuff to the car.

i have a 5zigen muffler (getting custom pipes) and next im ordering Tein springs and KYB AGX's, then getting an intake and header, clutch and lightened flywheel, etc... Does that sound like "punkifying" my car?

i pan on having all this done by April, hopefully.oh yea, i pay for it all myself.

Good god. This is funny. :) Lsnaple, a big part of the reason that people rag on kids in high school (beyond the fun factor) is that even if you do pay for it yourself, you're not supporting yourself. I fork out over $1200/mo just for rent and bills - in all honestly (and not being insulting), you probably don't make that much in a month. Congratulations on your mods, they're well chosen (although, why in hell would you buy Tein springs and not just get the coilovers?).

As for free mods, the aforementioned airbox mod and playing with the timing are about all there is. Honestly, if you're like most of us and want serious power (or at least, more than the KA with boltons can provide), I suggest saving for a swap.

My money goes to suspension and brakes first (gotta learn to handle the car before the zoomzoom arrives). My Eibach Pro-Kit and KYB AGXs came in yesterday from Heavy Throttle. Then comes the catback, short-throw shifter, and squeeze (yes, nitrous oxide). Then comes the CA18DET. :)

Good luck to you, and I do recommend you SEARCH before posting - it will get you the answers you want more quickly and without the flame factor.

it serves the same purpose as 99% of all the other threads.this is General Chat, am I right? This message board wouldn't seem so meaningless if people didn't try to be a comedian or flame, or complain half the time.....but unfortunately I don't see that changing in the near future :( I guess all that is kind of a part of "General Chat". Message boards are wierd like that

i understand, pick on the young one! haha j/k. no, unfortunately i dont make that much in a month. i wish i did. but thats mainly because i have to go to school for about 7 hours a day. if i didn't i would be bringing in that much or more money and be on my own.

i go to college in less than a year, and i wont come back to be supported by my parents.

to answer the Tein question, im still debating on getting coilovers, but the money factor comes into play again. aside from all the mods, i also have to be somewhat prepared for college, moving out, etc.

just so you know, im not trying to sound or be disrespectful.
