car description:1993 240sx convertiblesr20 blacktop swap5-speed swap2 way alarm with turbo timer
Guys - my car won't crank on and I think it might have something to do with a loose wire behind the dash or my alarm. Below is a description of events that occurred before and after the problem. Maybe someone can make sense of all this - b/c I can't.
NOTE: I have BOV and intercooler piping - so sometimes when I let off the throttle, my RPMS drop rapidly low - sometimes the engine shuts off - this time, it shut off for good.
Attempt 1. Car shut off (see above). Couldn't get it to crank again.Attempt 2. Tried to jump the car (after charging for a good 15 minutes) - no go.
Note this is important to know: at this point, I noticed that my wipers worked (I left it on by accident).
Attempt 3. Used a jump box instead - no go.Attempt 4. Tried popping the clutch - I could hear it crank a bit - but no go.Attempt 5. I tried tapping the starter with a hammer - just to see if it would help. no go.
1. At this point, I gave up and had the car towed.
2. Now I am trying to put all my windows and convertible top up - no go....wtf? No wipers working now???
3. I notice that my lights come on, the door alarm works, and even my headlights flip up.
4. So, basically, no other things are getting power. Not even my alarm.
5. I checked all the little fuses under the driver kick panel and under the hood near coolant tank. All good.
6. I temp wired power to the starter - the motor would crank, but not stay on if I left off the wire.
7. Out of fear of rain later today - I ended up running a wire to the relays I needed to operate the top and windows. I still have the rear quarter windows down (dunno where the relay is for that).
Now....does anyone know what might be going on? Some things to note:
1. I have had a problem with the motor shutting off before - but never had a problem where it couldnt just crank up again.
2. I have had this swapped car for over 2 years - no problems.
3. I am under the impression that it could 1 of 2 things:
A. My alarm is doing something wierd.B. Maybe there is a wire that got loose, that is behind the dash. I just RECENTLY had the dashboard removed and put back in...it went back in yesterday and I drove it all last night with no problems. This problem happened today.
NICO guys...help. Thanks.
