right now if my foots not on the brake i hear what sounds like worn brakes but only when my foots not on the brakes. Like my brakes are dragging. the rears were replaced with new pads because they were making a chirping noise while braking and now I think it's time to replace the front. I don't know what was used in the rear, whatever my mechanic could get his hands on. they cost $50 and im thinkin enjukuracing.com has hawk HPS Front Brake Pads pads for $60 and they look better. If I put the better performing pads on the front (brakes are more important on the front anyway) and leave stock oem (or whatever my mechanic put on) on the rear will this hurt performance? should I look into a different brand of pads? all I know about the new rear pads is they leave a lot of brake dust on the rims. I can't find much information on brake pads, seems like everyone upgrades to 300zx brakes

oh yea how are 97-98 front brakes different from the rest of the 240sxs and the rear 97-98 are the same?

If they are dragging you might want to adjust the Master Cylinder. Here is a link to tell you how.

As far as the pads go I would recommend upgrading all around. Also if you autox I recommend upgrading lines, fluid, and rotors.

PDM has some great products and amazing prices. I have yet to hear a bad comment re: the kvr pads and rotors.

I want to stick to oem rotors for now because i'm kinda short on money. all my money is going into suspension so I'm just looking for a brake pad that'll stop better than oem but still use oem rotors. I checked pdm-racing.com and they sell those kvr pads. the kvr pads will fit the stock brakes right?

Give PDM a call on the phone... they're really nice and, like said above, their prices are really good too =)

Check your rotors. I had a warped rotor that sounded sort of similar to what you're experiencing.
