240sx Brake Light Issue

Once again, im sure most of you heard about this problem. Now ive been hit with it. There is no power going to the brake lights when i press the brakes, but it lights up with the park lights. Ive checked fuses and wires, all good. Ive heard about the plug under the brake pedal, but idk if its bad or not. Any suggestions on what the problem can or may be? -thnx-

So many things could be wrong but check the brake pedal switch first.

Check all of your fuses-- even if unrelated. This happened to my Acura and the fuse for the horn was blown. It didn't really make any sense to me until I thought about the fact that the cruise control and brake lights were on that circuit. Then again, completely different car. But try looking at fuses.

+ what Paul said. If there's a piece of plastic on the floor, your switch probably broke off.

Use a test light and see iff there is power going in an out of the brake switch with the brake pedal depressed. If you are not getting power throgh both wires the switch is bad. Happened to my car....20 fix.

It was the brake switch at the bottom, i used one off an old Nissan pathfinder, and now it works pretty good a little brighter actually.Thanx for the advice

did you say your brake lights come on with your parking lights?
