240sx automatic transmission leak

I have a 1990 240sx with a medium transmission leak. Is there anything I could do to fix it without taking it to a mechanic like buying a new pan or sealing up a leak? it's a nuisance becase all the trannie oil burns up and i have this cloud of smoke from the burning trannie fluid(worse when i go more than 75mph). My transmission still shifts ok. Do I need a new transmission?

no you probably have a leaking pan gasket. replace the gasket and do the screen while you have the pan off. also be fore pulling it off look around for any other leaks from the trans and post the aprroximate location like which side and weather at the front or rear of the pan. describa as nbest as possible what it looks like is leaking and I can try to assist you in what part that may be.
