Just wondering how hard it would be to replace the shift solenoids ina 92 240sx autotrans??? I have the basic concept of what is to be done. ie remove trans pan, drop the valve bodies but after that I'm lost. will the solenoids be right there in front of my face??? and do i just unplug and plug in the new ones or is there more to it??? Do i need to remove any other parts of the transmission to get to the solenoids?? just askign cause A shop quoted me 600 bucks for the whole job I can get a hook up on the solenoids them selves and I get free trans oil and gaskets and free use of a pit for an hour or so. will this take less then an hour???

Ha, shoot I wouldn't want to rip apart an auto transmission. Get one spec of dirt in the wrong place and you could be screwed. Plus there seems to be 100's of gaskets that need to be replaced and screws that would get lost. Just buy another auto transmission for like 100 bucks. That'd be more worth it.

It's not a big problem but this might be a job for the shop. The removal of the valve body has special bolts to remove to get it out and it needs to be torqued in with a inch pound torque wrench or you can warp the valve body. There are alot of bolts in the valve body.
