found one in town for sale...was blowin black smoke that smelled like gas and wouldnt rev above 2500rpm

I know the tps/maf sensors probably need to be replaced, lady got it checked by her mech and she said that the head gasket needed to be replaced

to changed that (correctly) would prlly be about $200-300 dollars right? and probably a day or 2 project?

a head gasket is not that big a deal just wanna make sure the head and block are straight before you reasemble .. an oh yeah that would be a good time to do a timing chain tensioners and guides

it depands on how bad the hg was blown if it overheated it might have to be resurfaces,have the engine deck,and check for leaks,also need to check cylinder head for crack.But it was just blown,and she didin't drive it,you could just change the hg and go from there.and it could add up to more that $300,but if you change your hg yourself could save yourself some money,and learn in the process. black smoke could mean just runing to rich and not buring off the extra fuel,if the hg was blown it would have been white smoke and smell like coolant. You can also check the coolant for drops of oil in it,and your oil would look milky when oil and water mix.my two cent's

ya the black smoke is think, was thinking injectors, might as well change those gaskets anyways since they prlly need to be done (engine has 200k on it) - taking to midas to get a compression check, and if I change the HG ill see if theres any warping of the heads ect

so as a mental recap

Change HG and all others that come with that job Check heads for warping

and all the other tune up crap it needs (looks at wallet)
