240SX 1996 (S14) purge volume control valve.

is there any way to test the purge volume control valve,to see if is working properly? I got a diagnostic at Nissan dealership and they recomned it I should change it,but is not for sure another mechanic told me that those parts never go out.I need to register my car but the engine light will not go away,it passes the smog and another test but the engine light doesn't let it pass I already change the evap canister and the small dome shape canister in the engine bay.I need help do not know what to do.

hey i had the same CEL on my car. The part itself costs $50 + $150 labor at dealership. get a fsm and diy
