While getting a second car may be a good thing for some of you, i don't think it would be for me. For one, I'm 18 with an accident on my driving record and I think it would only make my insurance go higher than it already is. For me, having a second car would also be like having a second pair of shoes. I always wear the good/cool pair. I think I would just get a set of winter tires for the stock rims and then get some aftermarket ones for the summer. Don't forget I have to find a 240 first though... :( warwick5s: where in madison do you live? Know of any 240s for sale in town?

Having a 2nd car rocks. And most of the time, if you get a beater w/liability, it may actually lower your insurance (did for me). Look at it this way. Do you really want to drive your "cool car" in the snow/ice/hail? Didn't think so.

That's the whole reason I was pushing an '85 BRAT for two years...to handle the nasty weather and traffic, so the nice cars didn't have to. I plan to get another beater before next winter.

I think I may just look into a second car. However, to the original question. If you want (or need) to use this car in the snow, you need winter tires IMO. One winter I had just changed to my BFG all seasons and was dumped on with 6 inches April 1st. It took my about thirty minutes to get to work two miles away. But with snow tires, I have never had a problem. I could start plowing driveways if my car were just one inch lower (already lowered with eibachs).Having said that though, I have also driven down I-94 in some serious slick weather and could spin my tires (winter) with slight throttle in fourth gear so you do need to be careful, this cars got tons of torque. I stopped on that trip after helping a guy who spun and flipped off 94 in a truck with camper (scary story which involves a dog and a man traveling from Idaho), because conditions were too much for my adrenaline.ABS is great, HICAS can help sometimes, but NOTHING replaces knowing your limits!
