240's are relatively rare here in N.E. but there are a ton of pickups in the salvage yards. i'm guesing that the heads are the same. Is the cam interchangable? Is the engine set up for a different power band?Any light you can shed on this would help.thanks

Not sure man. I don't know much about the SOHC motor. At least that's what I hope you're referring to. I hate to link off site, but here's a local forum you can try. I'm personally just north of Boston. And I know a ish' load of people in NH. http://www.240sxONE.com They just dumped the database for maintenance, and are working on putting it back together. But it works. If you need anything, check my profile for contact info. I'd be more than willing to give you a hand.

i THINK the cam is different, more for down low torque

also think intake manifolds are different

however the block/head is useable

not sure about the cam either, but i know for sure that the block is different at the bell housing, the direction that the oil pan and oil screening and suction device for the oil pump are backwards as well. The head I believe is the same though and the internals, i.e. pistons rods and cranks seem to be the same according to the chiltons manual specs.

you can use the head, just swap in your 240 cam, unless you want a "truck like powerband", ka isnt a high rev motor, so if you do lots of low speed driving you could use the truck cam, I'd assume with lower mpg though...

If part numbers aren't the same that means the parts are not the same

the truck block is different as well. the oil sump is in the rear of the motor where the 240 motor is in the front of the motor BOOO
